Just wanted to say I just joined here. Great site with lots of good information. I just got a 2006 Speedmaster in December. Great bike!! Thinking about getting the K&N filter and maybe doing the air box mod. Whats your opinion on modifying the air box? I will re jet the carbs too. Any info greatly appreciated

Search for "ghetto freak" in the tech vault, it's the cheapest solution to getting more air flow to the carbs. If you want to spend, check out the air box removal kit from newspeedmaster.com. Welcome to the site!

Many ways to do the airbox removal but in my opinion well worth the effort. Some remove it and relocate the battery to leave the area under the seat open. I like that look but I did the Freak that keeps the stock look but eliminates the airbox in favor of pods. The same can be accomplished with the "Ghetto Freak" as mentioned above. That involves cutting the air box but leaving it in place and adding the pods where the box was cut. If you are going to do that then you should also put better pipes on or remove some baffles from the stock pipes. No sense in letting air in if it can't get back out. Then with more air comes the need for more fuel so you will also want to rejet your carbs. Get the AI off as soon as possible if it hasn't been removed already.

Thanks, The AI is already removed and the bike has Bub slash cuts on it. Sounds nice. Done a lot of reading about the air box mods, freak kit and ghetto freak as well as modifying the air box itself. I'm going to get the K&N filter remove the snorkel and drill the bottom. One question I have tho. Should I remove the baffle in the air box? Thanks
