I'm looking for screen options and I find what looks like my bike. Is this a members bike? Anyone riding with a Wind Vest? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have one and it is absolutly worth the money. Tried others but either to much buffeting, didn't stay in place, or looked ugly as sin. On the recommendation of others here took the plunge and would not ride with out it. it is great. BTW: I called the company before I bought it and not only did I talk to a person, I got a knowledgeable person who answered all my questions. I would suggest doing the same.

I agree! They ALL are "ugly as sin" Look like something the "little Rascals" would put on their little bikes or little wooden push cars.

It's not my bike but I have one and they're worth every penny...Put one on with the idea of only using it for long trips...that was over a year ago and haven't taken it off yet. It's big enough to give decent protection but small enough that it doesn't bug you. I got the clear one...it's so unobtrusive you'll hardly know it's there. The mounting hardware is clean, solid, and classy.

I also wanted a screen that didn't look like a roadster or "bagger" type. The WindVest is a quality product and does look fine on the bike. Personally, I tried one and sent it back. It had a very narrow envelope of space between buffeted wind and I couldn't find a way to adjust it to make me happy. They are a great company and will take it back if you're not happy. I originally had a Triumph Summer Screen which at my 6' height hit me in the face with horrible buffeted wind. My dealer would not take it back. So, I ended up working with Clearview Shields on a replacement Summer Screen that was a little taller and better designed. The first prototype was too big and didn't look good. The second one nailed it for me and become a production model for them. Clearview does not make complete windshields but replacements for factory mounts. You could buy a Clearview Summer Screen replacement and the mounts from Triumph or someone else for the price of the WindVest. Here's a link to Clearview. The Mulberry/Graphite America in the pictures is my bike. Clearview Shields

I am fortunate to have the original windvest prototype that was designed for our bikes-bought it from another forum poster in CA who no longer needed it. This is my second windvest on a BA, and I think it is the best thing going.

I have a Windvest on my bike and I love it. I tried the Triumph roadster screen and the Slipstreamer Tombstone and they both sucked. I have no problem putting several hundred miles on in a day with my Windvest, Corbin solo and backrest, and footboards.

I have a 16" Windvest on my '03 America. Had it for a few years now and love it. It does not block a lot of wind, it does not keep you warm, and it does not block all the flying vermin from hitting you in the face. What it does is eliminate any head buffeting and redirect enough wind so you don't feel like you went 10 rounds every 200 miles.
It's expensive, but it is a quality product. I'd recommend you call them if you're interested. They are knowledgeable and good to deal with. Your height is an issue as far as getting the correct size for it to work properly. I'm 6'0", and the 16" screen allows me to look directly over the top edge.

I like the look of the Wind Vest. I'm just looking for a screen that will take away some of the blast since I enjoy being in the wind for the most part. Looking for a minimal shield, I didn't want to hide behind a plexi-bubble or have the resistance of the wider screens. I just want something to reduce fatigue on longer rides and deflect some water when getting caught in the rain.
So now it is a toss up between the clear Wind Vest or the Freak kit. I guess I need to fertilize the money tree.

George,
The Windvest is just what you want to take the "blast" off your chest. You may also want to look at a fly screen to do the same thing. It is a different look and may be another option...and it is cheaper.

I bought my Windvest used off this forum. Can't remember what I paid but I think it was close to half retail (which is pretty typical for used accessories). The bracket chrome was pitted and after I decided I liked it I acquired another near-perfect bracket from a different member. If you can find the bracket cheap somewhere, they have replacement screens on ebay for $40-50 link.

The Wind Vest is a great product. Some of the best money I ever spent on my 2007 America. I was never a fan of shields until I used the Wind Vest. Took me a couple test rides to get it adjusted just right. I love the performance and appearance. I have the 16" clear.

Here's another option. Slipstreamer has a Windvest rip-off now, their "Billet Series." I didn't like the Slipstreamer Tombstone, but maybe these would work better. http://www.slipstreamer.com/Product/Cruisers/cruisers.htmlOh, wait, they're not a lot cheaper. I found the 15" billet online for $278.
