First, my apologies to everyone for not being here for awhile but my job is absolutely consuming me. Most days (all 7) consist of 14 hours at a minimum. Weekends are usually more. To give you an idea, I already have a little over 120 hours worked since the 1st. 2009 is shaping up to be a mirror image of last year and what do I hear at work? “You should be thankful you have a job” If this stupid economy wasn’t such a mess and I didn’t need to keep working, I’d have punched every one of those fools repeatedly and quit. As it stands, I cannot.

So what do my days consist of? Get up at 6:30am, get here by 7am. Work, work, work until 9:30-10pm, go home and fall asleep. Rinse and repeat. Every friggin day, every friggin week, every friggin month. But I sure am thankful I have a job…

Holidays? Yep, sure Phil. You can take Christmas day off. What did I do? I slept most of the day and got ready to go back the next day.

Riding? Hah! What is that? I rode maybe 250 miles in 2008 since this horsepoo started early in March of last year. The most I do now is ride a couple of miles every week (in the dark) to keep the batteries up and use up the gas.

Understandably, Janet is not happy about any of this but ever the trooper, she puts up with it. It is causing some strain and we work through it the best we can. One shining light in all this. We work in the same building so I get some home cooking for lunch and we get a little time together. These jackholes provide dinner (whooptee-friggin-doo) but I am SO friggin sick of takeout from the local restaurants. I’d like to stuff every friggin container (empty or full) down my management’s throats.

So how could these asshats make it any better? How about announcing that all pensions are frozen, no more 401k matching, and all salaries increases and bonuses are temporarily (yeah right) suspended. Yep, I sure am thankful I have a job…

So I am still alive if you want to call this a life and I really wish I had time to do anything except work. Supposedly, things should be back to ‘normal’ by summer but I am not holding my breath...

One last note. BA.com is not going anywhere.

Back to work.

Yay! Good to hear from you Uncle Fill. Sux you gotta work like that. As I have always heard through the trying times of my life: "This too shall pass." And then I feel like shoving my boot down that person's throat. I really wish you and Janet the best man. Hey, on a side note, I think I still owe you 6 bucks. You want I should just paypal that to you?

Well, I HATE to tell you this Phil, but you know that Kiss-up who works over in the other office? Well, THAT jerk just caught you giving us this update on the company computers, and the S.O.B ran straight to Management! And NOW that jackhole of a manager o' yours wants to see you in his office right away, dude!!!

(hang tough, amigo...you'll get through this alright...I've found that a sense o' humor helps quite a bit in that regard)

That sucks working like that, for sure. The most I can stand is 3 maybe 4 weeks of it max, then it's time to take off....
Bright side, it's bound to get better!

Uncle Phil,
Glad to hear you're still around. Being overworked sucks almost as much as ...well, work sucks.

Hopefully we see you in May?

I'm glad you are surviving, Phil. Like everyone else said, it was good to hear from you and I hope your work load gets lighter as it's gets closer to summer. I'll be thinking of you and Janet. Keep your spirits up, you've got an awful lot of friends here wishing you and Janet the best.

Dang man, that do sux. And we thought "you was a toad" and didn't like us anymore.
You want us to have a BA Rally at your company compound and whip the sh@t outta everyone of them stuffed shirts?
Blast loud pipes, throw beer bottles on the ground, pee in the flower bed. I'm sure a few of us would enjoy that.
Hey Yota, where are you.

Seriously Phil, hang in there. Better days are surely ahead.

Phil, great to hear from you. I hope your work will slow down enough that you and Janet can enjoy each other's company again. If you ever get a break we will still be here waiting patiently... at least some of us. I hope you can get a break for May.... there are some twisties calling out to you..... you can ride in the novice class till you get your bearings again ... love ya man... G

Good to hear from ya my friend, I think of ya often and wondered what was wrong. It’s not good to hear about that kind of work load though. Working like that is not healthy for the body or mind. Be careful, burn-out can happen. As Dwight said, a sense of humor does help a lot, even if it only fools you, it helps relax the mellon.
Hang in there Bud, we miss ya and care about ya. I hope things get better soon.

He kinda made me feel bad for whining (offline) about getting screwed out of a bonus. Heck, I only have to "work" 40 hours a week.

Phil,

You'd mentioned once of a "re-organization" or is it called "downsizing". I won't ever complain again about my lot in life - ever.

You & Janet take care of the important stuff, yourselves.

BTW dad, FJ has been picking on me, would you mind having a converation?

Good to hear from you but you should be glad you have a job good or bad. I know those hrs suck and I wouldn't want to work them. I need work myself right now that's why I say you should be glad. I am still earning money but not like I used to and need to go work for someone at least for a while. Hope things ease up for you soon. I know your hrs well, I used to work similar hrs on my uncles farm. I made good money but good money is of little use when you can't enjoy it.

Glad you're still alive and well buddy.

That work schedule is a killer - been there/done that - but they just canned 35 where I work and there's a "state of the union" meeting this Monday. Bonuses and raises are also "on hold" too. And all overtime has been cancelled unless you're on salary. Since I am a salaried drone, I get to stay as long as I need to - to do the work of some of the people they let go.... plus my own job.

Maybe you can take a little comfort in knowing that you aren't alone in this screwed up work environment.

I want a bailout!

Man I didn't even think of being salary with hrs like that. That would add insult to injury!I'm sure even a salary person would have to be compensated for that kind of time, I would hope anyway.

Phil, I wonder if you ever saw the movie, Office Space. Not that you have much time for movies now. I know how Peter would handle this situation.

Hang in there. I like to think about the guys who woke up barefoot 'cause they didn't own any shoes and then watched their whole families get sucked out into the ocean by a tsunami. This and a slight occasional mental adjustment helps to keep me sane.

Really glad to hear your still on this side of the dirt... even tho it's sucking right now. I was concerned about you and after hearing why you haven't posted or returned phone calls I still am. Don't sacrifice your life, marriage, and health for a company that doesn't appreciate it. After 2 layoffs, I know that I'm only a number to them and living is more important to me. You take care of yourself Phil, and if you get a chance to break out of that he11-hole give me a ring. I'm in Jupiter Monday thru Friday. Tell Janet Hi!

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?
