That's a good idea. Set that up and I'll come work for you. You can put a biker bar next door and a salvage yard out back...

... with a mechanic who pays you to beat him up .... no wait, I'm getting all these suggestions mixed up now

Yep! If only I had "just a little" more money than I do, I'd sure jump on that alright, John!

Speakin' o' which...I recall that Derek said something a while back around here that there's a motorcycle museum someplace down in the deep south that was planning on moving to Prescott. I can't remember the name of it, but I recall Moe responding to the news that it was a shame that such a fine exhibit was moving away from his neck of the woods.

I wonder what the latest news is about that???

Bob wins.

Of course, that "job" takes most people 40-50 years of training...

You could also have, either combined or separate, a do-it-yourself shop with tools and equipment for rent so that riders could work on their own bikes at your facility. Not everyone has a welding machine or drill press.

Love the idea! Right now I could use a service like that for some repair work I need to do on my truck.

The only problem with that is the problem with anything motorcycle related: insurance and liability.

The Museum that is moving to Arizona is the Wheels Through Time Museum. It is currently located in Maggie Valley NC. I had the opportunity to visit this museum in October of 2008. It was one of the best transportation museums I have ever visited.

Depending on the riding population where you live, there could be a market for motorcycle storage.

Now that could be possible up there.
Insurance and liability shouldn't be too much, you could have the customers pay for it if they want it.
You might even get Soren to store his bike there

Thanks for the info, Chuck. I found their website and sent them an email asking if they're still planning on moving their museum to Prescott.

I'll let you folks know their answer in this thread as soon as I receive their response.

My retirement plan is to open a motorcycle only campground in north eastern Alabama... sort of a camp and breakfast package.... maybe dinner. Have a bunkhouse for those without a tent or traveling light. Close for the winter and play snowbird on my sailboat in the sunny south!
I'll be looking for a job in Huntsville in the next couple of years, and hopefully that will work out somewhat to plan...

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

There used to be a guy named Rip who rode around the country going to parties and writing a monthly photo column for a magazine about it.

And thus soon afterward, the term "getting ripped at a party", entered the lexicon.

(thanks for the setup there, GB)

For those interested, here's the answer from the people at the Wheels Through Time Museum about their possible move:
__________________________________________

Hi Dwight,

We closed on December 1, 2008 and are currently looking at a lot of options
for the museum's future. Haven't made any relocation or re-opening plans
yet, and are currently talking with a few folks at the state and federal
level about the possibilities of staying in Maggie Valley. We'll be sure to
keep our website updated as news develops.

Thanks, and have a Happy New Year!

Yep! that IS too bad, John. AND I'm guessin' any place named after a best-selling HERBICIDE might NOT be a "lush Garden Of Eden"...right?!
