The group I was to ride with today wimped out due to the cold so I went for a solo ride thru the county backroads. I wasn't speeding or doing anything wrong that I could tell so was confused when he pulled up behind me and hit the lights. He told me he was a biker and would have been riding but had to work. The only reason he stopped me was to offer me a cup of coffee out of his thermos. Mighty fine officer and with the temp below 30, I would have given $20 for that coffee if he had let me.

That's thoughtful - as long as he didn't ask you when they started re-making Triumphs .

As I was APPROACHING a mobile speed camera unit, someone flashed me to warn me of it. Instinctively, I flashed back. As I got near to the camera I got flagged down by one of the coppers who quizzed me as to why I flashed my headlights (I said I knew the person who I flashed). He then threatened to have me in court for 'obstruction of justice'. What a t***er!! It's good to know there are coppers out there who actually look out for us, rather than want to abuse their 'power'.
PS I only charge $10 for a coffee!!!

Its quite common for the bike cops in Scotland to warn fellow bikers of impending speedtraps. The Green Welly tea house and garage is a popular stop off point for bikers and the bike cops will come in and tell you where the traffic cars are going to be sitting on the road side as you come down the side of Loch Lomond.
The bike cops also are good sources of information about road condotions and any road works that are in situation. So to the bike cops a big thumbs up.
The bike police run a free corse called Bikesafe they cover some class work mainky theory on riding. This is followed by an accompanied ride where they advise you on cornering lines and proper raod observation. This is carried out on their own time and they do not get paid for this. If you need further advice they will spend a time with you to help you with any areas you may have problems with.
They dislike the guys in cars saying that most are unaware of the skillthat most bikers possess and say that most bikers are better car drivers as we are far more aware of what is happening around us even when we cage it.

I remember a couple of days before I picked up my daytona, I was talking to one of the traffic officers at a road collision and told him what i was getting.
Two days later on the way to work I get pulled over by a copper on a bike.
I'm wondering what I did when the copper comes over and says "nice bike, I thought it was you".
Not impressed at the time due to the sheer panic on being pulled over but can see the funny side of it now.
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Good thing you didn't panic and try to run away from him!

I learned a long time ago that even if I can outrun them, I can't outrun the radio. Besides, doing nothing wrong there is no cause to panic and run.

I'm not saying I don't believe, but you may just have started a new urban legend.
pain is temporary, pride is forever.

Well, I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong and am just verrry glad that I didn't let my mouth get me in trouble when he walked up. He was a very nice guy and I hope to ride with him sometime.
