Well preparations are well under way for for our traditional Hogmanay celebrations here in Scotland. Tonight will be night for parties singing the old songs. Eating Black bun drinking plenty of beer and whisky "first footing" your friends and neighbours. If you turn up at a door tradition dictates you take a bottle and offer the host a dram. This is usually accepted under condition that you accept one as well from the hosts bottle. Steak pie will be cooked and short bread eaten. Children will be allowed to join in the party and be encouraged to take part. New year resolutions are also encouraged these are generally something positive you intend to accomplish in the coming year. To all my brothers from all round this world may this year be a great time. May all your hopes and dreams come true. I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. I may not be with you all at the bells but when I raise my Glass to toast the new year in I will think of you all. Also spare a wee second to think about those young laddies and lassies who serve in Her Royal Majesties Forces who are away from home and families serving each and every one of us. I know that not all of you have Royalty but the feeling is the same. Slange Va Brothers

Happy new year to you all from me too. I'm off to a mates house oop north in a bit... by train - it's too cold to ride 200 miles each way - not that I can in my current state anyway! Catch you all next year....and enjoy the extra second!!!

Happy New year folks! Unfortunately I drew the short straw this year and get to work. Having said that I'll probably be visiting more parties, nightclubs and pubs than most people but unfortunately not on a social agenda. 
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Just finished a 3,000 mile round trip across the frosty & windy Northern Prairie. So I'll stay close to the homefires tonight. Probably have a bottle of fermented grain products later & Ma Baensch's Pickled herring, "packaged fresh since 1932" on a saltine cracker to ensure a year of good fortune. I forgot the herring one year, with predictably regrettable results  A goodun' for all my ba.com brethren  j  h

Las Vegas on New Years Eve = Vomitorium... This is the first one I have had off in 10 years. This would be the upside to being unemployed.  Happy New Year...lets hope 2009 is better!!
