Will TORS from a 2004 fit a 2009 EFI. Has the size on the headers changed? Want to buy a set from a guy on this site but unsure as to whether they will fit. Any suggestions or info greatly apreciated.

They are the same and will fit perfectly, make sure you remapp the ECU. On the other hand try it without after remapping mine I have a niggling clicking sound which I think is coming from the AI. The dealer says he cannot hear it..

FWIW, I just yesterday got my '09 America EFI back from it's 500 mi. service, and the dealer stated that no remap downloads had been issued by the factory for my newly fitted TORs. He asked about the engine performance and I told him straightaway that it was good, no flats or big pops, and he stated that I should run it just as is. Said it would not burn the valves or void the warranty in any way. I have no other engine mods and don't plan any; it sounds great and runs fine.

Does that mean that none of the '09 EFI owners can upgrade yet to less restrictive pipes? I've actually gotten to enjoy tinkering with my carbs.

Really weird I was told by dealer that he had downloaded a map for the Tors fitted and one of the guys here paid £40.00 for the remapp..

I think a fax to Triumph is in order here to find out one way or the other.. Will fax the factory after New Year.. will keep you posted on any replies

FAX SENT, they should read it Monday or this Friday at the earliest.........

Ram, I am running the TORs (Triumph tapered style) with the stock factory "map" with the dealer's consent. Seems fine and sounds grrreat.

Birchr, Thanks, Mate. Being they are nearby, the factory may be more apt to respond to you than a Yank. I'll be waiting for your results; much obliged.

Daniel, fortunately the TORs require less change than most others available. Many that are less restrictive require more fuel/air adjustments and would not do as well with the stock map. The ones that need more adjustment usually have more performance increase. No matter which pipes you change to, getting closer to the optimal setup does make a noticeable difference.

i have an 09 efi as well. dealer said he remapped when the tors went on. i had already had the bike for a while, and had the 500 mile service before the TORs were put on. did he? i can't say for sure, because i don't have a tuneboy, but i honestly believe i could feel a huge difference in response

Thanks for all the info. I went ahead and purchased the TORS and will mount them right before my 500 mile service. Now if it will just stop raining!

Thanks again guys,
Ira

Just came off the phone with Mark Swepson (Warranty Manager) at Triumph UK. Triumph have and insist if you change your pipes for free'er flowing to use the new map (EFI) supplied by them for our bikes. This is for the short or long free'er flowing pipes..

Thanks, Ray, for the info. Spoke to my service manager just now, and he stated the service tech sets the latest map tune to the pipes he sees and hears on the bike at the time of service, after checking the black box for error and fault codes. Apparently Triumph sends periodic global map updates, and individual map settings are selected from that package by the techs for each cycle based on it's setup. So says he. Easy to see and hear they are not stock pipes, and the odometer said he road tested it, so who knows? Ya gotta trust somebody, and it does run good.....albeit with lower gas mileage - down to 41 from 44 mpg (two up).
