We've never been before but I can tell you the price of hotels has turned us off already. It won't stop us from going, but there's no reason hotels need to raise the prices when they expect to sell out.

1st off the hotels jack the price out of the sky (more so than classic car weekend)with a 3 or 4 day min. 2nd this is just a place for the police to harass EVERYONE ON A MOTORCYCLE with their "safety inspections" where they will find something to ticket most evey one for something (loud exhaust a favorite amere $150 fine) last year stops on the THRUWAY & Rte 9. 3rd the ralley, vendor & test ride section comes with at least a $35 a day cover charge. Every where else I've gone it's free.
If you really want to go to the area, go the following week & ride with less traffic & hassles, plus there's still enough straglers to make the trip fun. When you do go downstairs @ Duffy's

I might go - or maybe to "Triumph come home" if it's o this year. I've been in the area with friends other years and trolled thru the crowds but not really participated. I got a taste of what Sturgis was like last year and it might be fun to actually participate.
I have to say that other years the early june weather has been cr*p.

I went last year and had a very good experience. Stayed in Rutland Vt. about 50 minutes away at the Red Roof Inn which cost me $55 dollars a night. Did a few test rides and shopped at the tour expo but mostly rode on my own. I had no issues with the cops and really didn't see any big problems.

Well after all my ****** & moaning I'll BE at Americade this year...My bass player / riding buddy has his parents house in Hauge & we'll be there probably Thur thru Sun. Laconia is out of the window this year so We'll be doing the Lake George thing. I just hope for no police attention this time around.

Gurdy I've heard the same stuff you described while talking to riders going from LG to laconia.. they said it was a biker trap now with alot of people saying they wouldn't be back,,, laconia is starting to be the same thing, over commercial with every vender selling the same stuff and now with the big crack down on loud pipes--> a gilford cop told me this year would be even stricter with more meters, and other added stuff like going after the bobbers with no front fenders/speedos & tires (because of the burn outs) where they will tell you to park the bike if it it looks too worn..
we have a cottage on Newfoundlake and alot of the newer yuppie people with money who bought the fixed up cottages during that "no Money down" selling blitz don't want the bikes there anymore and always go to the meetings up at the school and Bit** about everything--> as an example,my cottage neighbors who are teachers from Brighton who are 15' next door hated my harley and hate my speedy with SS's BUT it was okay for their little kids & friends to shoot off bottle rockets & jumping jacks all night & use my canoes without permission and life jackets.
don't wait for other people, Just do it!

That's a bummer, Gurd as you're only a short ride away. And Tajue, are you telling me there are snobs with no manners who move in and all is well until those darned pipes rumble in and out? Maybe if you wore a nice Polo jacket/helmet while riding?

I've been to Americade 10 times and enjoyed every one of them. Don't know where you experienced the above. If you don't register officially for Americade, The cost to visit the Vendors at Tour Expo is $10s per day. The Demo rides are FREE.
