Is this based on anything other than sales volume?

I think it said something in the first paragraph:

"Triumph Motorcycles has announced the 2009 class of Triumph Premier Group (TPG) dealerships. The annual program recognizes authorized Triumph motorcycle dealers who demonstrate exemplary customer service, outstanding sales & marketing plus an over the top commitment to the Triumph brand. For 2009, more than 60 dealerships across North America have earned this elite status."

And again in the second paragraph:

"The prestigious TPG designation was developed to acknowledge Triumph dealers who surpass key performance goals and create an outstanding customer experience that exemplifies Triumph's sense of relaxed refinement. The program has three designations: Platinum, Gold and Silver. In order to qualify for TPG status, dealers must meet or exceed operational standards in the previous twelve-month period, including: : exceeding sales goals, excelling in customer and sales service, and buying into the corporate image with Triumph designed retail store fixtures. Membership is evaluated on an annual basis."

Wow, both NH dealers are on the list. Great Bay is a platinum dealer and Second Wind is a Gold dealer. I actually like Second wind but they're both great dealers. We're really lucky to have them.

Unsolicited letters, sales figures, parts purchases, survey, dealership appearance, accessory sales. The overall Triumph experience. My favorite shop, Pure Triumph in Ft. Lauderdale made it. Its about the whole experience.

Marketing, you know, like the motor company does.

I think many dealers can't afford to do a big selection of the Triumph line of accessories, and refuse to believe a nice building matters. Those guys won't survive long in this tight financial market. Coats, hats, etc. There is large money to be made there but the inventory is not inexpensive to the dealer.

Look at Rosmeyer's, Ormand Beach Triumph. Destination Daytona!. Shirts, hats, coats, etc. along with bikes. Just hanging out getting a burger at Rosmeyer's is a fun road trip.

Most dealers I stop at, I see Triumph tucked away behind the primary line in most stores. They kinda do it like its a hobby rather than a business.

Yep, I agree but the NH dealers really showcase there Triumph's and that makes a big difference. Great Bay is Triumph & Ducati and Second Wind is Triumph BMW. Second Wind built a whole new addition just to house Triumph and they actually have more room for the Triumph's then BMW's.

That's ironic. My BMW/Triumph dealer became a Bmw/Ducati, and oh yeah Triumphs are in the back room.

I remember when dealers used to set up group rides and poker runs to help advertise. Now most sit around the dealership complaining about what it costs to be in the business!

Oh yeah no dealers from NC on the list!

The only reason they are not a platinum dealer again for 2009 is becuase they didnt want to fork out all the unnecessary extra cash to buy all of Triumph's store layout stuff. They are the best shop on the planet and are #1 in sales in the Northwest territiory, #3 in the Western U.S. and #6 in North America. The service and sales are absolutley top notch!

No surprise to me. Seems the thought of marketing Triumph in and around the Carolinas is as likely as snow in he11. Seems the dearler/s I've found have put most of their effort and financial investment into the purchase of a blue neon sign which they immediately hang in an in conspicuous and less traveled corner of their dealerships.

Ditto to that, our new dealer has been Buck's for about a year now. The dealer in Canandaigua could care less about Triumph. They just sit there and sell themselves anyway.

Two Golds!

Clinton Cycle & Petes in MD!

I like Clinton better, has more attention to Truimph and good selection of bikes and gear. Good service so far.

The people there are really great, but has anyone had work done by them other than routine oil changes? Just curious.

I see that D&D (Pensacola) is on the Silver list. I'm sure their service department would be near the very top of the list, but the listings are also based on sales quotas. They are an older business that that is not that big. They sell Triumph, Ducati, Royal Enfield, and KTM.

Well, I hate to say it but another dealer in CT went from the "best experience" to the "worst experience" inside 1 year. When I bought my '07 Tiger they bent over backwards to please me-they didn't charge labor to put on accssories, called me a couple of times to see how I was getting along... When I traded in the '07 for the '08 ABS, they forgot twice to order the heated grips, tried to charge me 2 hours labor to install them, didn't tell me that the bike was ready to pick up-I just happened to call one day and was told to come get it or they would have to start charging me for storage! Well, when I got there I just had to let them know about my displeasure,of course yelling at the manager right in front of other customers! They smoothed things over a bit but it wasn't like they were busy doing anything else such as the economy is.

Interesting, Matt. Did they have some kind of change in personel between those times which might have causes this drop in the quality of their services?

Dwight, the service manager came over from the Harley dealership that the Triumph dealer also owns. The old service manager went to the parts dept(don't know why he did that). As soon as I had the first problem concerning this bike, I escalated it to his boss, who swore up and down that everything would be taken care of. I mean, the place was a ghost town, sheesh! I don't know what happened to them. Maybe they just want to sell Ducati's and beemers. The sales guy said they wouldn't be stocking any Tigers for '09 and cutting back drastically on the other Trumps. I guess I'll just have to go to Alex over at Branchville. I brought my '07 in this past fall to have them upload the TOR tune-For some reason there was no mechanic there that day-the owner just couldn't figure out how to use the computer, so I paid him $35 and had to do it myself! Wow if I ran my business like these guys do I would have a lot more time for riding!

The DC Rats list bitchez pretty regularly about service at Clinton.
The folks in the NYC Triumph were pretty much jerks and mostly interested in their Ducati or KTM line.
The dealership in Syracuse just openened - didn't it? (the former dealer closed it's doors) How can they make a list after not evening been open for a full year?
Collins in PA seems top notch, but are in the lowest category. (most like an real, old style shop to me)

Ridge Motor Sports in Batesburg, SC didn't make it, which is a shame, because from the customer service perspective (not to mention the showroom full of Triumps) they were Double Platinum. Hmmm, maybe that's the problem, they don't have a "Double Platinum" category. But frankly, a BIG oversight by them especially given this place is only 2 hours from Triumph HQ in Noonan...

Biker's Edge in Wichita --- good on ya.

Good folks to deal with Brian, Amber, Red et al.

BTW they have Triumph, Victory, Polaris, and Kemp Kustoms.

Just sayin'

Not even sure where the closest dealership is. Used to be one 20 miles away but they folded. Get most of what I need through this site. As far as service goes, there's an old boy locally (a former Triumph dealer) working out of his garage that can handle anything I can't figure out.

My dealer made Silver. How? They are just a small hole in the wall shop which specializes in Polaris 4 wheelers. They barely have a Triumph sign outside and everything I have ever wanted to purchase has had to be ordered. They only have room to display 1 of each model. Don't get me wrong, they are nice people, very friendly and helpful and good service but it just ain't much of a bike shop.
