I would like to remove the tank badge on the 09 model (glued on I think) so I can do some mods. Anyone have a tip for how to do this without damaging the paint on the tank ?

I'm thinking a good release agent and a lot of luck. They are really not meant to be taken off once applied.

Heat it with a hair dryer.

A thin length of electrial wire with the insulation still on grasped in each hand and pulled along between the tank and the badge will cut through the double sided adhesive foam, if thats what they use. Then just soak the goo left on the tank with WD40 and pick it off. works on car badges.

I use monofilament fishing line - finer gauge works best , like 6 pound test . Just saw it back and forth like flossing teeth and it will "saw" the adhesive off without scratching the tank .

Willy , on one of my Jap bikes I had, used a string from an electric guitar and a heat gun ...then used heat gun to warm glue and "gently" remove,,,,it polished out fine ....have also used the fishing line....NOTE - do not use your fingers use a stick or something to wrap the string/wire around to work the process otherwise a nasty slice on the fingers can occure...go for it
