Very cool!

Details! Details!
You've got one of my dream cars, right down to the 4 doors (had a '57 Nomad - 'til it went swimming, but that's another story).

Beats what is out there as a "new car" by a mile and a half. Very nice.
Next get a 1965 Ford Mustang and post the pics.

I was in Hendersonville, NC a month or so ago and met some SC folks up there for a ride. Probably saw about 40 cars - all drivers. Told that they get away a couple of times a year just for a weekend ride through the mountains. I saw one that was remarkably similar to yours. Were you part of that group?

Very nice. So what year is it? It does look like a 56, as midlifespeed said. I've always wanted a 57(black/white), 2 door. Hey RevRob...I had a 1965 Mustang with a straight 6 that I partially restored. I ended up giving that car away in 1995. God, that was stupid.

Brought back memories, not necessarily all good. I had one of these. New paint, blue on blue, beautiful. A drunk in a beat up 65 chevy truck sideswiped it, front fender, front door, back door, rear quarter. He drove off, fast, and me and my buddies chased him for 4 miles through town, until my brakes heated up. We got his plate number. The cops tracked him down, no insurance, no job, lowlife. Never got a penny from him. Sold the car for practically salvage price. But enough doom and gloom. Enjoy your "new" car! Like mine was, it's a beauty!

My Dad has had it for the last 27 years and just pasted it down to me. He has a bum knee and cant drive a stick any more. The cool thing is that when the title comes in I will have a B title. The original owner never titled it just registered it (old SC law) so my dad had the A title. It needs the seats and door panels redone, 1 floor pan replaced and new tail pipes. When I get the floor replaced I think I am going back with carpet and not the vinyl it has now. The motor has about 4500 mile on the rebuild and runs fine as long as you stay our of the back barrels. When you step hard on the gas it dies like it is not getting any gas, so the first thing I am going to do to it is rebuild the carb.

I drove a 69 fastback Mustang in High School. Wish I had that one back. I have had some fun cars in the past MG B, Sunbeam Alpine, RX7, Firebird, and a Studebaker Champ Turk that I have let go, but the Chevy will be passed down one day. And I will have another Champ pickup one day.

I have a 55 Studebaker Champion 2 door hard top in my garage now. I'm 2nd owner and it has 77,000 miles on it. Unrestored and it runs and is drivable. Probably need some break work since it has been parked since 92. My neighbor had the Champ truck, was a small dump/steak body. It is still there but needs tons of work. He also has some wreckers one is a 4x4 wrecker and one a diesel wrecker, all from the 50s. He also has a fire truck tanker from the 50s also Studebaker. I could have strangled him when he sold the big stainless siren off the top of it.

Sweet lookin' Chevy One-Fifty there, Whitt! Yep, that turquoise and white two-tone sure gives that beauty a period look, alright! As a very young tyke, the first car I remember my parents owning was a '56 Two-Ten Station Wagon "Townsman" in those very same colors. Quote:

BTW Ian...I'm wonderin' what exactly are you plannin' to "break" on that poor ol' Studie o' yours back there? And could you also explain to me what a "steak body" truck looks like? Are we talkin' some kind'a Filet Mignon or a Porterhouse cut look here, dude???
(sorry about that Ian, but I just couldn't seem to put the "BRAKES" on this lousy little gibe o' mine...I sure hope I haven't driven a "STAKE" through that big ol' heart o' yours here, ol' buddy!!!)

I would love something like that ...gotta admit American cars have a style that could never be copied...We had ford Zephyrs which were utter dogs to maintain .....decent British cars like Jaguars old style were just to pricey for Joe Bloggs to own...so most folk ended up with crappy Cortinas or Chrysler Avengers....in todays market how much would you expect to pay roughly for something along the lines of the car shown in the picture....In the UK cars like the one shown sell for in a reasonable condition between £6 & £8 thousand they still require a fair amount of work to be done. Parts then become a serious consideration as they all have to be imported ..with tax being added to any purchase over £50-00 ....

Insurance company says $21,000 to replace it, but I think 15 to 18 could buy a car in that shape.

Nope I have thicker skin than that! I have improved on my spelling since being on here. I have never been very good in that department. Now redundancies and double negatives both drive me nuts. Especially when a supposed "educated" person does it on TV.
