I recently purchased my first triumph, absolutely love it , I wanted to add the few accessories that were not already on my bike, I just cannot believe the price differences between the dealership one block from my house and online sites... I can understand the dealership being a little bit higher but look at these prices, I live in the Chandler,AZ area but didn't know if I should give you the dealers name, but here are their prices for just a few items Large saddlebag set-$943.98 and the same part number at Kissel Sports is $589.99 !!!!!!!! (http://triumph.kissellmotorsports.com/home_triumph.asp?sid=9243411E-02X12K13K2008J10I47I38JPMQ1445R8) Engine dresser bar kit $319.98 and same part $199.95.
There was a $200 difference on the light bar...... unreal... I asked them at the dealership today if they would match internet prices and they said yes but I would have to pay the shipping...... also with them I would have to pay sales tax so as much as I would like to support my local Triumph dealership, I will order on line. Have you all found these great differences also?????

That way they can afford to give you a "10% discount" on accesories when you buy the bike.

Support your local dealer when you can -otherwise you may soon not have one, but don't overpay.

You sure those prices don't include labor for installation?

yeah...I agree but thats hard to do sometimes when internet prices are so low and you have the ability to do the labor. That and when the local dealer wont match prices (mine wont and they know Ive walked because of it).
Id say if the dealer will match prices Id go ahead and pay the tax and support the dealer.

Sounds like your local dealer either included labour or made a mistake. The official prices are on the triumph website.

My dealer always gives me a 15% discount on parts or accessories. If your dealer would be reasonable, I would support him.

Nope, those prices are for parts only!!!! I double checked when I first checked on purchasing the light bars. I would like to support the dealership but those prices are so much higher . Labor is not included...my sweetie thought for sure that they gave me the wrong price for the light bar but I saw for myself the info, the part number and when I told them it was so much more expensive, they just gave me a look so I walked. I have thought about talking to the manager since these prices are just so out of wack.

Hmmm very strange. I was under the impression that Triumph dealers had to charge list price for accessories, unless discounted. I'd talk to Triumph US, not the manager.

Always worth negotiating Sandie. Especially because you have a better deal elsewhere.
Talk to the manager and show him what you would pay online. If he won't match it, walk.
And no shipping/handling BS either. He can get it in on a regular parts shipment.

Sandie - Which dealer.....its ok to tell given their apparent attitude about prices. I have used Az SuperBike on N. Arizona Ave in the past, but the guys in the shop have moved on, and the last time I had them order me a factory part, they ordered the wrong one - the expensive one - and then when I got it and said, nope thats wrong, and had to show the guy which one I actually needed by looking at his computer screen, though I had given him the correct name and described it, I quit going to them. At least one of the other local "Phoenix" dealers is part of a very large conglomerate and price gouging wouldn't suprise me. I looked once, but have never been back. I tend to order online and from some of the very wonderful venders who are members here! Becky

If all else fails call Liz at Cascade Moto Classics. They ship, no sales tax only charge $10 for shipping (free shipping on orders over $250). Let them know I told you. Soren

944$ for Large saddlebags... Canadian Prices are always higher, and I had'em at 650$...
That's really odd...
I don't think there is anything legal in between authorised dealers and their prices toward price lists... Altho, abuse might lead Triumph to remove their banner... But then if he's the only one around... you get into politics...

Sandie- Bought my 05 Bonneville from that same dealer, but did not buy any accessories because I could get them cheaper from the dealer on 7th St in Phoenix. Only went to Chandler because the Phoenix dealer did not have any Bonnies at that time. Wanted an 06 Bonnie Black, but the made me a deal on an 05 with less than 1 mile on the odometer, but when I took it in for the first service they charged me $265.00 dollars (not including tax either). Needless to say I never went back again.

Yes, kissel motorsports in pa is the one that I have been ordering all my accessories from and Jeremy has been wonderful, even gave me an extra 10% off 2 items cause I asked for him by name when I called in the second time to order. I'm really so disappointed in the local dealer, I'm looking for who to go to get my 6000 mile service, any suggestions in the Phoenix,AZ area?

bigbill is spot on. Dealers have lots of room to wiggle prices, but you should show them you have other legit. prices that are lower than his, and give him a chance to sharpen his pencil. I just did this with my local dealer and my cost for a set of TORS came down from 454. to 380. tax included. And, I have a backup quote from a Calif. dealer of 368.99 to my door. Support when you can, walk if you must. Negotiate incoming freight beforehand - it is a scam.

Followup - I'm picking up my tapered TORs tonight from my dealer. $380.77 out the door. Haggling is a win-win; you support your dealer AND keep some coins in your pocket.
BTW, Merry Christmas to all, and Happiest of New Years. Peace.

Not all dealerships will negotiate. The local one here wouldn't budge off MSRP, even when I said I needed more than $1,000 worth of accessories. The problem is, they supply all the BMWs to the local PD, so they don't care if you buy Triumph accessories. I ended up buying online and saving a bundle.

From what I could always tell, it seems this issue is similar to having your car or motorcycle serviced at a dealership, compared to having it done at an independent tune-up location which specializes strictly on this function.
Dealerships will always have a number of means available to them in order to take in the ol' moolah, but places such our specialized vendors here(like Brent's or Eddy's, or even the old "brick and mortar" locales like Cycle Gear) are around mostly to sell accessories, and so in order to move their merchandise as quickly as possible, they will more often than not have lower prices on their items than most dealerships.
(...at least that's always been MY theory anyway!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

update, Just got my bike 6000 mile checkup, a little under $300 bucks, needed to order a second key, they told me $19.45 on the phone, had to pay before they would order it, went over to shop 5 minutes after calling , they charged me $26.97!!!! really ****** me off so got home and went on line, called Dave at Kissell Triumph and they only charged me $11.66....... also asked them about the crash bars and they emailed me Since you are getting the key & crash bars, I can give you 10% off your order. The key blank is 11.66, and the crash bars(Part # is A9758059) are 179.99, shipping will be $9.99, bringing the total to $201.64 for everything including shipping. This time I called back Arizona Superbikes and spoke to the manager, finally...he decided he would match the price and not add taxes!!!!!
It pays to shop around and not just accept the charges .
