I'm looking to switch out my handle bars, but I need some info. Are the Speedy 1" or 7/8"? Also any sites or pics leading to Apes or other out of the ordinary bars would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Only things to watch when ordering is the the straight part between the risers is wide enough or if knurled that the knurling lands the same place as the risers. That and that the bars clear the tank and dash when installed.

Our risers are the same diameter apart as Harley, so your options are endless. They make a stud that is thead to fit HD risers on one end & has the smaller metric thread that will fit thru our triple trees. If you use those, there is no need to drill out the mounting hole in your triples.

also don't make the mistake I did and try the straight "Broom handle bars"... on my speedy the controls wouldn't mount on because they are designed for the bent bars,, silly screw up but thats me.

Anyone tried buckhorns on our bikes? Newspeedmaster says theirs don't require any other mods. Is it possible to buy good bars for $50? http://www.newspeedmaster.com/html/buckhorn_bars.html

Yes, I saw in the older threads where several members have 'em. Was just hoping for more detailed input regarding the riding position. I'd like to recline more, but don't want to feel like I'm hangin' on to the bars just to stay on the bike. Also, I wonder if the bars from Bellacorse are the same as those from Newspeedmaster. They're the same price.

I have the Buckhorn bars from Bellacorse. I love the riding position at speed and at slow speed turning I have better control. Fit right up no problem. I guess it depends on your personal ergonomics, I am 5'11" with long arms and legs, perfect for me although I have read on here that some did not like the handling at slow speed. Only problem I have had was mirror style. I had the mirrors from Bellacorse on my stock America bars but they did not give enough coverage with the Buckhorns due to the differant angle, went back to stock mirrors.

I put broom handles on my speedy, but found that after 20 miles my hands went numb. Switched back to the stock bars and everything was alright. Just put the wires in the bars, and it cleaned everything up!

I had my Triumph dealership install the Broom Handles out of JPCycles, seemed to work fine, even custom fitted the width to have a nice narrow stance. GREAT for white linein' in NYC.
cut it!

They wouldnt fit?? strange, I have 34" bars and the only thing I decided to change was the indicator mounts as they NEED the angled bars to point straight..
O yea, the other issue for me was / is getting them in and out the back gate which is also 34" ROFLOL

I have 36" drag bars and all I had to do was re-route cables. They are mounted on Harley Deuce risers. I had already relocated the signals to the sides of the headlight for a non-harley look.

I have a set of H-D Heritage bars on my America. $15 on Ebay. For me (5'11", average arms)they are perfect. The grips are just below shoulder level. I like my fists facing directly out, these have very little pull-back or drop (very different than Buckhorn style bars). The stock wiring and cables work with these bars (moved my wires inside the bars, which were already drilled for that). There are a lot of mini-ape bar options out there (chumps, chimps, etc.) I really like the Biltwell "Chumps", if I were buying new, I'd really look at them:

I LOVE the upside down clubman bars on my bike. Being 6'3" they fit me just right. They bolt right in with no cable mods (longer brake cable in the future though) and have that old school chopper look. Check out the pic link in my signature.

Pics would be nice Andy. It's always good to see what others have done. FYI, the deuce risers was one of the first changes I did but have since switched to a different riser but I've still got my eyes out for THE ONES, whatever they look like. The Deuce risers do have a good look about them that's for sure.
