 having trouble installing tacometer

I need some advice from those that have installed the triumph tacometer in a 07 america, instructions say plug the one end of cable wire into igniter connection block and the other end into the headlight, I have noticed all the wires are being used in the igniter block , I looked on line and others have said the instructions are murky so I'm asking for help in getting this installed properly.

There shoud be a plug under the chrome dash for it. On the 07 its plug and play. That extra thing about the red wire was for older bikes.
If you bought it new there will be an extra harness (or is it just a wire) that isnt used.
