I search the archives for anything regarding detachable backrests and came up with nada. I would be shocked if I were the first to ask, but does anyone make a detachable backrest for an American?
Have fun!

Thanks Johnny, I think however I stated my question incorrectly, I'm looking for a passenger detachable backrest. When I called Corbin last week they said they stopped making ones that attached to the pillon pad like their front seats. I'll call tomorrow to see if they just make the traditional type. If not any other ideas would be welcomed.
Have fun!

Have you thought about the triumph one? They do short or tall sissy bar packages for $360 & $370 respectively. Details on web site.
Not aware of any others

Thanks Nobby, I sure did, but I'm hoping to find one that detaches easily. I only have the passenger seat on when my wife rides (weekends), and was hoping for something that pops on and off easily.
Have fun!

Once they are set up, the sissy bar can be removed in 5 minutes, only 4 bolts to remove & replace.

I'm in the same boat. I would love to find a good easily detachable sissy bar. I know the stock one is easy to swap, 4 bolts, but I also have ez brackets, so I would need to get new posts... such a hassle!!

The ventura system is pretty interesting, but there seems to be so much there. A good old fashion Set the posts, then just click and yank would be great. Heck they make them for everyone else. Can't we get a little love?

Not so - I have EZ brackets sissy bar setup as well and have found that the spacers that come with the Triumph luggage rack system are a perfect fit on the rear posts. You can buy them seperately from Triumph (or a hardware store) for a few bucks.

I call Corbin they only make backrests for the driver so no good on that lead, thanks though.
So what is an EZ bracket? I have the luggage rack that I switch out when I take off my wifes seat. Does that have anything to do with what we are talking about?
Have fun!

EX Brackets are detachable saddlebag brackets. I don't have a good pic in my gallery... maybe someone else will.

So Nobby, are you saying that you put the shorter EZ bracket posts on with the spacers from the sissy bar kit when you are running without the sissy bar? And it stacks up fine? What I meant was I would need two sets of EZ bracket posts... Ya know, even if I could find a sissy bar to attach TO the EZ bracket posts, I would be happy. So far Kim and I haven't gone anywhere that a small backpack didn't suffice for storage.

Thats correct, have posted an image in my gallery. If the look with the spacers isn't to your taste, I have heard that EZ will send out a set of the longer posts FOC if you call customer services. Unfortunately, wasn't able to wangle them over here in England, hence the spacers.

Tiki, Here is pic of what my spry young beeoch looks like without saddle bags. The EZBrackets look vs the hanger look. And click on this link for more information than you would ever want to know about Easy Brackets

Neither did I
And by the way, I have the longer posts for the EZ Brackets, so all I would need is the shorter ones to swap in and out with the sissy bar. Hmmmm....

Cannot say for certain that this would work, but if they send out complete set of shorties, then problem solved. Tell them what you are after when you call.

Yeah I might do that. It's a "next year" thing at this point anyway. I have too many weddings, a trip to Puerto Rico, and possibly moving between now and then!! Yikes... I need to block Brent's site for a while
