Mods, I know this should be in safety, but it is timely.
For those going on Toy Runs, if you're new....Be Aware:
1. There will be alot of new riders. This is not a bad thing, just keep it in mind.
2. Stay in your lane. You may want to ride with your bud, but stay in your lane and ride staggered.
3. Don't follow too close. Remember, new and inexperienced riders, passengers and road distractions.
4. Don't lag too far behind. You don't want to give an impatient cager a chance to cut through. 3-4 car lenths, or the 2-3 second rule.
5. Watch out for the "Accordian Effect". There will be periods where the parade will speed up, only to slow down VERY quickly!!
6. Don't get too involved in waving to the crowd. Watch out for the above pointers.
7. Watch out for fast moving police and road guards coming up in the left lane. These folks need to get to the next intersection or problem area.
8. Have a good time and don't drink too much after the run. It's a good cause, and the kids need it. It also gives the biker community good PR.
I have done Toy Runs for almost 20 years, and usually do Road Guard duty. I thought I'd pass along some of my experience to the BA community as a caution and reminder.
Safe ride, and Happy Holidays!

later, Tom.
