I'm in discussions with a gentleman selling his '07 America. It's the Blue & White one. Has 1100 miles on it. Just a couple of quick questions.
Does anyone know what the diameter of the front forks are? 39, 41, 54, 58mm? As I've got a couple of items on my current bike that I would like to swap over to the America.
Also, has anyone swapped out their chain for the QPD belt conversion? If so, what are your thoughts/likes/dislikes?
Any information provided is much appreciated.

If you are thinking windshield then a couple things to consider are....the upper fork shroud is tapered on the 07 and just the fact that there are fork shrouds you would be attaching to unless you remove them or they have been removed.
I don't like belt drive, you have to take 1/2 the bike apart to change the belt and if it breaks along the road you can't fix it by simply slapping in a new link. Belts can also be damaged by rocks getting in between the belt and pulley. You also can't change out sprockets to change the gear ratio as easily since you can't add or remove links.
Great bikes though, Speedmaster or America, you won't be sorry and 1100 miles is barely broken in.

Thanks Dog33, one item was the windshield. The clamps for it are adjustable so I should be ok in that regards. The other thing are my driving lights. Shown below. I think they would look great on the America.

You can make them fit. Many do-no problem. As for the belt-why? Triumph chain drive is fine.

I just prefer the belt. They last a long time.

He didn't ask why you like chains or to be questioned on his thoughts on chains. Yankees! Sheesh Re-read his question. If you have a chain its not yours to answer. Some here have belts Lunk. None complain about them.

I have the QPD belt-drive, and I love it. The only thing I don't love is when I ordered it I also ordered a spare belt, and never got one. I found what I think is a replacement, but can't be sure without taking the bike apart. 8k miles, with no problems, but I'd like to be prepared. Uncle Charlie
