Thinking of hitting up the classifieds on a trade. I'm thinking of switching out the gunfighter for a solo seat. Concerns: Is the stock solo comfortable? My rear end isn't a large one...just the belly. Would I lose out on some comfort between these two seats. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Corbin Solo? BTW...I have the touring seat for comfort in long trips for those of you thinking of that. Thanks, just looking for as much info as I can before I act.

Gunfighter is pretty much a solo seat with a "tail" for the passenger . Corbin is nice , but pricey .

some guys love the Corbin gunfighter seat, maybe that's the best of both worlds?

FYI, I have a Corbin Gunfighter, love it, but not any good for a passenger.. However it it much better than the stock gunfighter... And the price is great new from the factory for $379 when I got mine this summer... And u get to choose your leather and color etc....( came in at $403 or something like that delivered. ) Mark

I did the swap from stock gunfighter (07, 4k miles) to slightly earlier (05, 12k miles, I think) solo. Not sure if the years make a difference but... My thoughts: the solo tapers more from front to back and is slightly firmer all over. This gives slightly more control of th bike as I can grip the tank better.
Overall comfort advantage goes to the gunslinger, however. Its wider front end gives a bit more support to the thighs.
I'm quite happy to sacrifice a bit of comfort for the control, plus, I get a lot more comments with the solo on; it completely transforms the look of the bike.
Hope this helps.

I put the gel solo seat on then took it back off. It was very comfortable but the rear edge of the seat cut into me just above the buttox. It wasn't noticable at first but after about 50 miles it began to be uncomfortable. After 100 miles I was in a constant state of fidget. If you have a small posterior or ride forward on the seat it may work well for you.
Yes! I am a Redneck. Any Problems?

Thanks all. I'm looking for those positives and negatives on Speedmaster Solo seats. Keep 'em coming. Anybody really happy with their solo seat?

I had both the solo seat and the gunfighter for a while. I would switch out seats when the misses wanted to ride.... It honestly feels the exact same. there's no change in ride height or comfort. The solo seat does allow you to accessorize a little more - maybe with a fender bib or rack or something. But pulling it all off to switch back is a pain.
I ended up selling the solo seat on here in the classifides and buying a low profile seat like the ones brent sells. I like it MUCH more than the America solo seat. you sit IN the bike instead of ON the bike. it's closer to the ground so I feel like I have more control... plus it looks much cooler.
So, I've tried all three and I recommend the low profile seat if you can find one cheaper than what brent sells them for. (sorry brent). Thorn

I replaced the gunfighter seat on my '07 Speedmaster with a customized solo. I asked around at custom bike shops to find out who did their seats. I'm sure there is someone in your area. You may want to at least talk to a local customizer to get a sense of what he could do for you. I was able to get a seat with more of a ridge supporting my lower back. It was better, but still got my attention after a few hundred miles. I loved the look of the Speedmaster, but eventually had to give in and trade it for a Tiger. Good luck.

I've ridden with the stock SM gunfighter & the solo. I prefer the gunfighter. I will probably remove the passenger strap as I ride it solo & the passenger pegs are off.

I'll have one posted for sale soon, but it has two broken laces on it. I need to see what it will cost to relace it in order to sell it.
Learning from my mistakes... again and again.
