Let me start off with this is above my mechanicalness mental processing; however, I do have some curiousity about it so please...use small words...lol. I got my bike back from the shop today from it's 6K maint. Since I put new pipes on, and plus it just wasn't running prime, it was rejetted and dyno'ed (specs listed below). The air/fuel ratio ranged from roughly 14.6/7 in the lower RPMs to about 11.9 at max power (59HP...didn't list the RPMs). What I'm looking to see, is this an "average" ratio for America's?

Specs:
2005 America
K&N filter with snorkel
Gutted stock America pipes (reducing cone remains)
130 Main
3.5 turns
2 shims RO
(these last 3, I could have said cabbage, Poland and a road atlas...that's how much sense they make to me...I need a beer).

2005 America, green/gray, gutted stock pipes, tall sissy bar w/ luggage rack, Saddleman's dual touring seat and Tourmaster saddlebags (and sissybar bag).

I may be wrong , but it seems as though you run lean in the low range, and get just about right top end. You want a nice 12/12.5 throughout. Maybe up the mains, then back off the mix screws.
Can someone tell me if I'm wrong?

BTW, the way I understand it, is the engine will make more power running slightly lean, but it's bad for it?

130 is the size of your main jets.
3.5 is how many turns off the bottom your idle adjustment screws are.
And there are two shimms underneath your needle that meters fuel flow through the main-jets and needle orrifice. The needle is tappered and the shims hold it up higher in the hole so more fuel will flow around it.

The dealer spec on the engine is 54 bhp, so I'd say your doing pretty well.
