Hello Everyone, I can't wait, bought a 2007 america on craigs list, had a friend who lived 40 miles away from the location so he checked it out,it's being transferred from Ma to AZ and should be here in a week..... rented the same model 2 weeks ago , put on 250 miles in one day, and I loved the bike!!!! Got it for a great price, $5000, still under warrenty, fully loaded and under 4800 miles.......the local dealer suggested I get the extended warrenty, what do you all think? is it worth it? I'm a newbie with about 3000 miles under my belt on a honda rebel 250, cant wait to be on something that can handle the highways.........

No need for the extended warranty, IMO. These bikes rarely need fixing thats not under normal wear and tear. Congrats on the purchase, you got a good deal, and welcome to the site! Be careful until you get some more miles, and then still be careful after that. Head on a swivel.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Welcome aboard! The America is quite a step up from the Rebel, but sounds like you have already given it a spin. Your tag line says it all... Ride Safe, Ride Often (or all the time).

Hey, thanks for all your comments, to answer your questions, we live in Gilbert,Az, my better 1/2 rides a road king but I won't hold that against him.... We scuba dive in Ca, heading to caribean in dec....mexico is not too far either...no diving in AZ where you could see anything... We ride in northeast Missouri during the summer months so we have the best of both worlds. Any of you enjoy riding with groups? if so, check out http://www.meetup.com/ and put in your zip code and motorcycles, we have a few awesome groups in the Phoenix area and I know they are all over the United States....for those from Phoenix area, check out the group we ride with at http://www.meetup.com/PhxMRG/ , we have almost 400 riders in all types of bikes..all welcome....

welcome to the site and nice to see another diver here I haven't gone diving to Cali but I've dove quite a bit of the Caribbean... where are you headed? I love wreck diving, it's so exciting. My wife, the Pro photographer has a Nikonos V but it seems like she will sell it to get a housing for one of her DSLRs. Maybe I'll post some shots she has taken in some of our trips... the shark and dolphin pics are awesome. I'll post it in a new thread when I find them.

That meetup.com is pretty cool. I ended up going a cruiser ride group in Virginia Beach. Rode with those guys a couple of times already and they're a good bunch. Dependind who shows, mostly HDs, some Hondas (including a Rune) and a couple of Triumphs.

Thanks Pawdiddle! My bike has same colors as yours pacific blue/new england white . high performance exhaust with slant cut pipes, floor boards with heel and toe shift, windshield, passenger backrest with luggage rack,saddlebags....4800 miles with warrenty till June 09 and all that for $4900 plus costing me $650 to transport it the 2700 miles from ma to az. Yes, I realize it is a big jump from the honda rebel but I did rent the america for a day and put on 250 miles and Fell in loVe. I have been riding everyday since I took the msf course in Sept and have ridden almost 4000 miles . I will start slow on the new bike just like I did on the honda....I'm very fortunate that my better 1/2 has been riding over 45 years and he has been the best mentor. He never wanted me to start with the Rebel thinking it was just too small but I cannot tell you how many ladies I know who started with the honda shadow 750 and were too afraid to ride and end up selling or storing it in their garage.for me it was a comfort level issue and I am confident that the triumph is the perfect weight , I have so many lady friends who jumped into the hd deluxe and have done great, for me that was just too heavy a bike for me...not to mention that anyone can ride a harley but no way will they love it as much as the America....I can honestly say that I dream about the bike ......:) not sure how to download a picture here but if you tell me how, once it arrives this next week, I'd be proud to share photos.

Welcome aboard Sandie, and congrats on the purchase of your Triumph! Great deal there, alright! And seein' as how you and your husband reside in AZ, don't forget to pencil into your 2009 calendar the "Southwest Triumph Fest" in mid-May. It's a rally my wife Judie and I throw each year at our other place up in Prescott. (and tell hubby not to worry...we don't hassel those poor misguided folks who might show up ridin', say, a Harley or somethin' at this rally....well, not much anyway)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
