i got into a hassla with a jerk on another forum that advertised oe thing,,,sent another. when i voiced my opinion about this on the forum [ in a nice, polite grandfatherly manner, of course] he made a dumb reply then sighed off with FAMA NIHIL EST CELERIUS, something derogatory i'm sure. can anyone tell me what this means???? grandfather might need to re-visit this goober. thanks

yeah dog, i think it is also. just curious as to what he signed off with, i ordered some hay ,,he sent me some "processed" hay, got a grip???he acted wounded when i had a few choice comments about him, and his products, he however, had no doubt as to what i thought about him. he tried to make some silly justifactions, then signed off with that. figured a bumpkin in ms would not know what he was sayig. [[and he was correct on that]

It IS Latin. I studied it for 3 years and it does mean: Nothing travels more quickly than scandal. Semper Ubi Sub Ubi...

Alright Lester, I think that you once said you were a neophyte at this computer stuff. And it is fun to share the questions and answers. But, if you copy the phrase and paste it in a google search, you'll almost always find out that you should "always wear underwear". And here's a site for having some fun with Latin Fun Latin
Contra todo mal, mezcal; contra todo bien, también

Nice work Bill...
By the way Fatrat, if you are a neophyte and you don't understand "copy and paste in a google search", pm me and I'll send you some directions.

Well, thanks for explainin' that Bill! Now you see, even with my very limited understanding of Latin, I already kind'a knew "Semper" in english was "Always", but I couldn't quite figure out what "Ubi Sub Ubi" was. And so I started thinkin' maybe "Ubi Sub Ubi" might be the name of one of those distant relatives of Barack Obama's over there in Kenya...BUT for the life o' me I couldn't figure out why DunnSpeed would bother mentioning this guy in this thread here...to say nothin' of why he'd always want us to keep ol' Ubi in our thoughts???!!! (and BTW Bill...how WOULD one say in Latin..."Dwighticus Clownius has entirely too much free time on his hands!"???)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Hey Chris!!! I HOPE you know that this could all EASILY segue into some REALLY LAME knock-knock jokes now, dude.......like....... "Knock, knock!" -"Who's there?" "Ubi!" -"Ubi who?" "Ubi that knockin' on your door?" -"HEY! I asked YOU that FIRST!!!" (uh HUH!!! NOW do ya SEE what you started here???!!!)
