I can't even tell you how angry I am about this "joke".

As I'm selling things to make my mortgage and spending countless hours searching for a job, he walks away from his position to a ranch in Texas with full medical and retirement salary.

I'm outraged and insulted!

Crimony get a grip. Hyper sensitivity and perpetual outrage are getting old. If THAT has your panties in a twist you must spend ALL your time pi$$ed off.

Most employers require a two week notice prior to vacating a job, but many of them waive that and tell the employee that he/she may leave at any time prior to two weeks following the initial notice, especially if the employer already has a replacement for the departing employee.

Wouldn't it be nice if that were the case with the office of President???

think about this, we were fine up untill about 3 yrs ago, then things started falling about. Now the question is, what event took place about 3yrs ago that seems to have changed everything??? as for his retirement, every congressman and senator gets the same beny's with a lot less to deal with day to day then the pres. it is my opinion that they all should have to deal with life on the same terms as we do everyday. the president dosnt have as much power as some people think (the house and senate is where its at) and he really dosnt make that much $$$ say in comparison with a c.e.o. of a company and yet he runs a ultra big company. have any of you ever seen Bush's home in Tx. it is very moderate compared to someone like say, Gore or Palosi and his home is very energy efficient, with rain water being captured and GeoThermal heating and cooling and a list of other things. nobody(especialy Bush) expected the attack on 9-11 and it has been that one incedent that has plaged his presidentcy and if the previous administration had done its job we would not have had a 9-11 to deal with. i tell everyone to look at the big picture, look at what has transpired in the house in the last few yrs and then tell me who is to blame for what. i believe if the president had the power of line item veto, things would be a whole lot different today. now i am sure i am going to get shut down here but i hope not!!!!! people need to open their eye's and really look at what go's on in washington before they try to blame one man for the whole encilada!!!!! done!!!!......i could use a drink!!!!!!

Tom's original complaint here was the compensation packages that ex-Officials receive. It had NOTHING AT ALL to do with anybody's performance while they were in office, OR anybody's performance to come!!!

Uh huh. Sure, Tom's peeved because of the TONE of the President's words alright, BUT...the CRUX of his exasperation IS that there's this "Golden Parachute" waitin' for a certain someone in Crawford TX, which Tom doesn't get.

Ya see, THAT'S one of the little problems people seem to have today. They take the TONE of something said, but they tend to relegate the ACTUAL WORDS which are said to a secondary, and thus less important level of consciousness.

And ya know WHY! because...FEW PEOPLE SEEM TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TO ANY GREAT EXTENT ANYMORE!!! That's why.
