Riding home from work yesterday on my Speedy following about 50 yards behind another fellow on 2 wheels. We were on a 2 lane highway and both in the fast lane, traveling about 65mph. Some cager pulls out turning right in front of us into the fastlane and causes the guy in front to brake up pretty hard. Well that biker was ticked, understandably, and manuevered himself around the idiot and got in front of him. Next thing you know, I'm watching this idiot cager speed up to tailgate the bike...and pretty close too!!! A big part of me wanted to gas up and catch up to the car to at least let him know I'm watching and REALLY disapprove. Another part just wanted to beat his a&&. What would you have done?

I typically get right beside them, knock on their window, flip them off and keep going about my merry way.

Nope! I don't flip 'em off...well not at first anyway! What I sometimes do is pull next to them, take my left hand off the handlebars, throw it palm up and use the ol' "internationally recognized form of Body Language" which says to 'em..."WHAT THE F*** WERE YOU THINKING, YOU FRIGGIN' MORON???!!!" Yep! You see, I'm the kind of guy, as you folks around here may have noticed after all these years, who likes to engage others into "dialogue" BEFORE I make a "definitive statement" to them! (oh and BTW...that other rider there? Well, I can only say that HE was almost as big a moron as the cagers was by riding up and manuevering IN FRONT of him, because at 65MPH that cager was going to "win the fight" between the two of 'em IF it came to THAT!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I am VERY aware that there are just too many morons "packing iron" these days (at least in Arkansas) to get into a shooting match when I have nothing on me to shoot back with.

getting in front of an idiot in a car is just as bad of a idea as getting next to one close enough to knock on their window

As I've gotten older, and maybe wiser??, I let these morons go about their way. I isn't worth the risk when they are driving a multi-thousand pound instrument of death, and the odds are slim you're going to teach them anything. Now, when I was YOUNGER, let me tell you, there was this time when a cager cut me off and I...........

I'm secure enough with myself that I can back off and let the idiot go on his merry way. Live to ride another day. Funny thing about getting older is that you recognize that those momentary thoughts of kicking ****** do nothing but get you in trouble in the long run. As a result of that gain in intelligence (or possibly the erosion of youthful ignorance)is that I have not had to call someone to bail me out of jail in years... YMMV

+1 on not going to jail. scream at 'em if you want, but property damage or hassling them at highway speed can get you some unwanted police attention at best, killed at worst
there are 10 kinds of people in the world. those that understand binary, and those that don't.

Hmmmm. Ya know, I think these two fellas just might be onto somethin' here! And so...HERE'S an idea, folks! What say we REVIVE into the american culture the following seemingly long forgotten group of words and the idea that sprang from 'em which said..."Cooler Heads Prevailed"...and maybe TRY like the Devil himself to bring that back into vogue? Because you see, ALL this here MACHO CRAP doesn't quite seem to have been workin' out to our mutual benefit lately, now has it?! (yep, ya know, that JUST might WORK, huh?!)

I hate to admit it, but you're RIGHT. When you're backed into the corner and there is no choice but to go ghetto on someone in an effort of self-preservation then look out...
Ask Deon(nee Grump) or PipeDr what Braddock is all about and you'll understand the upbringing I reference. Dwight, just think Compton...

Okay Tony. Where's my friggin' nickel???
That's the nickel EVEYBODY owes me 'round here whenever they say somethin' like, "I hate to admit it, but I agree with Dwight here!"
(and trust me dude, I gots me LOTS o' nickels clangin' around in that ol' piggy bank o' mine nowdays, 'cause it seems to me there's a whole lot o' folks around here who every once in a while FINALLY figure out that I'm kind of a smart person, and not just a smart-a$$!!!)

What's the matter with some people? That's what I was thinking when I read another post in the lounge that got locked. HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE EGGNOG?!?!?

EGG-ZACK-LEE, Dave! In FACT, I was even thinking of starting a new thread about THIS (evidently divisive) issue TOO, Bro!!! Why it's..why it's...downright UNAMERICAN to not like EGGNOG, I tells ya!!! Listen up folks! I'll betcha those poor misguided souls who don't like eggnog probably don't know that EVERY single president since William Howard Taft has enjoyed that most festive of beverages!!! YEAH!!! Every friggin' SINGLE ONE of 'em!!! (well, I hear that is all of 'em but Calvin Coolidge...I guess he liked his hot apple cider...YUCK!!!)

All this eggnog talk makes me want to go get some now! I wonder if it's in stores yet I think I have some rum in the freezer, too. And if not, then what an opportunity to re-supply

As to the other question. I get the license number and vehicle description and driver description if I can, and give it to a friend who happens to be a lieutenant in the traffic division (bike cop).
The next time a-hole gets pulled over for anything, he/she gets the book.
