I guess the set screw came out and the baffle shot out the pipe, because one side is missing. I guess I'm going to have to see if the lifetime warranty covers that. Probably not. Went back and looked in the place where I think it happened, but no luck finding a baffle. Should I pull the other one out so it runs even? Man, talk about making loud pipes even louder...

If i were you, i would park it til next spring!!!(alright im just saying this because in NE PA. we have snow and im not able to ride so im jealous of anyone that can) . I would say take out the other if you plan on riding so the back pressure remains the same on both sides.

Let me know if you go bafflesss.... would that be related to the a$$less chaps? So I can get really good earplugs before the next Ozarks ride!

I must've shovelled at least two tons of snow off my roof in White Haven over the years. Now that I'm in Texas, I have to ride instead. I barely even have time to change the oil.

Glad I wasn't behind you because I'm baffled enough by life in general without being baffled by a wayward baffle. By the way, those that ride behind my un-baffled sceptres are baffled as to how I can ride with such unbaffled sound. So, I remain baffled but the TBA isn't. SteveB

There's just no way that baffle was up to the 904 power coursing through! Especially at 90 mph on the interstate! (Just glad it didn't hit me in the head on our earlier ride!)

Well, I took out the other baffle today. Holy crap it's loud! It doesn't sound good either, it's just too sharp. I do like the ultra deep tone, though. Wish I could get that nice deep sound without the harsh popping, because it sounds too metallic. Hard to explain. If I can get a video with good sound, I'll post it so everyone can hear it. Hopefully it won't take too long to get a replacement baffle.

So I guess I better bring earplugs on Thursday in case I end up in back. Looking forward to hearing it. Your bike was loud before!!! How soon will you get your part?

believe it or not, it's actually like 20" long, but it's also 2" inside wide open all the way through. it was a real pain to line the baffle rivet hole up again with the drilled hole in the pipe from underneath.... I was being lazy and didn't want to take the pipes off.... spent about 1 1/2 hours dickin around with it

put a mark on the end of the baffle then insert and using the mark twist till you get the hole lined up. did you stay with the stock baffles or get the quieter ones. team triumph has a great staff.

I could record it for you, Dave, if you want it for your use. However, in my opinion, no matter how nice the video or sound recorder may be, hearing pipes on the computer(no matter how nice the sound) never do the pipes justice.

Very strange, it's almost exactly one year later. I lost the other side baffle today. There must have been something wrong with the rivets... I'm going to see if Team Triumph will send me this next replacement for free. Any other Scepter owners have this problem?

Called Team Triumph today, they have a replacement on the way. They did tell me that a few years ago they upgraded to an industrial rivet to keep the baffles in, so maybe mine was an old one that was a little too weak... I dunno... Anyway, the baffle coming is at least free of charge!

Un freaking believable. Lost another baffle. This one must have jumped out on the way home from the Arkansas Rally. Look at the date stamps, this is almost freaky how it it almost exactly one year to the day, and almost exactly two years from the first time it happened. Called Team Triumph today, they want me to send in my pipes so they can see what the problem may be. I can't figure out what is happening here, it's a hole and another hole and a rivet. Nothing to it, but somehow mine keep failing. They say this is the only time they have heard of it, with some guys having 100 thousand miles on the pipes and the hundreds of sets they have sold. I guess my bike is gonna be down for a bit if I have to ship them there and wait for them to return, but Team Triumph is looking for something to send for me to run in the meantime. Anyone in St. Louis have a set of stock pipes laying around? Just need to borrow them for a couple weeks.

Got my pipes back today, all fixed and they say I should never have another problem with them. Cost me another 40 bucks, but considering they re-welded and drilled new holes, replaced the baffle that was missing and shipped them back all for that price it's not bad. Especially since I was not the original purchaser of the pipes to begin with, they came on my bike when I bought it. Or else I would have the full lifetime warranty. Figures that since I didn't buy them, they had problems, but at least now it's taken care of. Well, I guess we'll see at the end of October 2011
