Will are friends from Australia always be able to reach this great site? Seriously, what are some of the reactions to the firewall there?

Seems the whole world has gone and got itself all tied up in safety, control, and censorship. What ever happened to freedom?

Complacency happened. Sadly, the only remedy for intrusive government is civilian violence.

Come on!!! SURELY there HAS to be SOME equivalent down there to our own American Civil Liberties Union, RIGHT?!

(now if THAT doesn't get at least 80% of 'em fired up around here, then I know I've lost my friggin' touch and no longer have my finger on the pulse of the culture at BA.com anymore!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Our Prime Munster is always looking for ways to big note himself on the world stage. Then at the end of the day he doesn't have the balls to follow things through when the going gets tough. He is also getting a reputation for rushing things and stuffing them up. Oh I think I could be describing all politicians.

Brought to you by the same government that wanted to replace money with ID cards. Drag 'em all out and shoot 'em, I say.

Or as Jack Burns, the down in the heels, beans & a bedroll cowboy in Abbey's "Brave Cowboy" told the New Mexico booking officer "Don't have none, don't need none, I already know who I am"

Yep John, but you remember what happens to Cowboy Jack at the end of that book, don't cha?!

While tryin' to cross the Interstate, he and his horse got steamrolled over by an 18-wheeler!

(how symbolic can ya get about Man's continual struggle to fight the onslaught of so-called "progress", huh?!)

We live in a democracy down here, where voting is compulsory.

Thus we have voters who are politically ignorant and easily swayed by electioneering propoganda.

The next problem is that the major parties have pretty equal sharing of votes, and they need the support of the minority such as, tree huggers, do gooders and ratbags to gain power.

So when they get power they have to pay back favours.

So much for government by the people for the people, much more like government for the people by the loonies.

Hmmmmm...."Electioneering Propaganda"??? "Electioneering Propoganda"???

Nope! That doesn't seem to ring a bell at all with us folks up north of the equator, dude. Nope! Not at all!

(well...that of course is IF you're NOT talkin' about all those "commercials" we Yanks "get" to watch on the ol' TV just before each and every election courtesy of all those "kind folks" out there runnin' for some kind o' office or somethin'...and I suppose that "might be" if you're ALSO NOT talkin' about all those OTHER "commercials" those OTHER "kind folks" who seem to be spendin' an awful lot o' money to try and scare ya into votin' for their little pet propositions that are ALSO quite often on the ballot....But of course that "may not be exactly" what you're talkin' about here my Aussie friend, so lets just forget that I brought that up, OKAY?!)

True enough, but a few years later his lesser known cousin "Seldom Seen Smith" turned up as an itinerate, indolent & recalcitrant Colorado river guide in the 4 Corners. Seems to run in the family.

I think living in the desert makes some people strange in the head.

I think this forum will be OK however any posts concerning NAKED Bikes will have to be banned...

In all seriousness this has been tried before and soundly defeated but one has to make sure the pressue keeps getting applied.

On another note, the front license plate legislation has been put on the back burner for now due to pressure from the riders however they are talking a microchip so that red light and speed cameras can record the microchip.

I like the way that this thread is about an Aussie issue but the ones getting annoyed about it are American... except the 3 Aussies that have replied.

It ain't gonna happen. Personal opinion.

Good one Gina.

It's like this. What technology can make, technology can beat.
Even if the OZ gov't does censor, the hacker fix will be available even before the censorship starts.
No Worries, right?

The people who wanted this are the same types that wanted or want helmet laws. Social engineering through legislation.

An old or not so old saying was " People get the government they deserve."

Give us a little time, we will have a filter in the U.S. too. But, but, but, its for the kids! is usually how it starts. Then everybody shuts up and gets in line for their politically correct pill.
