so, the TORs i ordered are still not available for my new america. consequently, i'm still riding around on a sewing machine, and i would really like a bit of a purr. i am considering knocking the baffles out of these pipes, however, it's efi. i'm curious as to whether the ecu will compensate for the increase in airflow, or if i'm going to incapacitate my bike by doing this. i really don't want to pop off the 500 bucks for a tuneboy already, just to deal with this, if i can get around it. any english or australian folks have an efi bike that they knocked the baffles out of and were able to leave the ecu as stock, and still ride okay?

I stuck my stock mufflers in the shed and left them covered up.If you look on www.bikebandit.com at the price of the stock mufflers you may want to leave them alone and just buy some aftermarket mufflers. The stock mufflers are catalatic converters also. The last time I looked bikebandit priced them at $450 each.If the smog police ever really crack down you may not want to have to spend that much on two stock mufflers again. You can spend as little as $40 each or all the way up to $1000 for a pair of mufflers.I put the TORS on my bike and yes there are louder pipes out there, but my bike is also carbed. The stock mufflers are quite pricey if you have to install them again.Mine take up space in the shed.I hope I never have to reinstall them.Good luck.--What part of KC? I grew up in South KC. I have not lived there since 1978.

The smog police won't care as long as you leave the cat and only knock out the baffles. Now if they crack down on noise you may have a problem.

A good solution is to watch Ebay for stock pipes from the older bikes( 05 and older I think it is with no cat) and knock the baffles out of a set of those and keep your pipes with the cat. I have seen those stock pipes go really cheap, less than $100.

I have an 04 but I saved my AI for that very reason, just in case...
