The free side of the pond, that is! I've got an 07' America that has always miss fired since new, but only very subtley. Now it has taken to dying outright, yet when I left it with the dealer for a week they drove it home and let it run every day for a week without it dying on them. Symptoms vary, from dropping just one cylinder to complete shutdown, from quick restart to taking 15 minutes before it will run. I plan on going thru it this winter but I'mm looking for some direction other than what I suspect:

1. Bad connector somewhere. Go thru the harness and reseat them all and check all ground connections.
2. Thermal issue. Take a heat source to the ECU or whatever else I can find that looks electronic. Didn't they get rid of those Lucas resistors?
3. Sacrifice a sheep.

The problem is just inconvenient around town, but keeps me from enjoying rides with others, and being an IronButt member it really bites. Any advice from someone who's experienced similar?

If it is worse when the engine and outside temperature is hot maybe it is an ignition coil. Mine did not run right for a couple of years. You would think the dealer would have checked that though. The mechanic who fixed mine said that the coil is heat sensitve and tons people here have had the same problem and replaced with a Nology coil which is half the price of an OEM Triumph coil. Hope you find the problem.

As above, 90% its the coils.

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Thanks for the tip on the Nology coils. I also forgot to list the infamous kickstand switch. In Ron Ayers book 'Against The Wind' he mentions this problem with his BMW during the Ironbutt Rally. I'll easily spend money on a coil to start with; I just wish I could know that was the issue for sure, but I'll get my confidence in my bike back one day at a time.

Similar problem with my speedmaster.Turned out to be a crimped fuel tank breather tube.Next time it happens,Remove fuel cap to test it.
