Our church is sponsoring a "Ride Your Motorcycle To Church" day on October 26. After the service we are going to ride to a local restaurant for lunch ~~ probably Famous Dave's BBQ. I am looking for two things...

1) Anyone in the area is welcome to come ~~ IM me for times.

2) Ideas to help make this event more successful.

Please keep the forum's rules on religion in mind if you make a response.

Thanks,

Rev Rob

Contact the local CMA chapter (if your congregation can handle it). We did one of those several years back and once the pastor got past the outward appearances (leather & tattoos), it was a fun night for all. The youth group was talking about it for months!

Should make this an annual national event.

Unless it's raining , we always ride ours to church , there's always a bunch of us parked together and we usually ride afterward . You should have a "blessing of the bikes" ceremony .

It would take me longer to warm the bikes up than it would take to walk to church, but there are always a few bikes in the lot.

Hmmmm. I don't know Dog, but for some reason, I find that kind of "ironic" in a way!

You see, you're ridin' a motorcycle to CHURCH designed by those "GOD-LESS COMMIES"!!!!

(sorry...I couldn't resist that one...the Devil must'a made me say that!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Actually to make matters worse; it was designed by the heathen Nazis. The design was then stolen by the Godless commies. And not improved much since then.

However they are trying to reform by becomeing capitalists, so it is only right that I try to help them out.

Hmmmmm. Front row, huh?!

Lemme guess here, Rev. That's so you can keep an eye on me and shot me that same "look" my wife gives me every time I make some lousy wisecrack in a most
"inopportune place", right?!

Well, tell ya what...The next time I'm ridin' up Hwy-99 through Fresno some weekend, I just may take you up on your generous offer.

(HEY!...you DID SAY there's a FREE LUNCH in it for me, RIGHT?!)

Free lunch at Famous Dave's ~~ can't beat that. I have to be in the LA area once a month for a meeting. Maybe we could connect on one of those trips. I'm not on the bike for those trips ~~ the thought of being on a bike on the 57 and the 210 scares me to death.

That sounds good, Rev. Let me know the next time you're going to be down here in "The Concrete Jungle" and we'll get together!

I'll take ya over to my favorite place in Old Town Torrance...The Red Car Brew Pub and Restaurant. They have the best Porter Ale in town...no, make that in all of SoCal!

(...and the grub's pretty darn good too!)

Try getting the local newspaper to come along and take some photo's and do a piece in the paper will help to get your day over to a wider group. Also your local radio could do a few plugs the week before .Passing the event to top people in the church may start the ball rolling elsewhere which wood be a great for you to have started.

All the best for a great day rev

Our local chapter of the CMA does a ride at my church every spring, they attend our service and dinner, and speak a bit about CMA, always a great bunch of guys and gals. They have been trying for months to get me to join them, I just havnt had time to make any of their meetings.
