Never got to ride mine with standard exhausts, but I believe you do hear the valve gear with these fitted.

Hi michael, yep is the answer to your question they seem to wind a little. This wine will disappear if you put TOR's (Triumph Off Road pipes) on or I should say it will become quieter as the sound of the pipes will make it so you do not hear it. You will also need to re-tune it as well, the stealer will do this for you for free if you are buying the pipes from them or should do..
So whereabouts are you Michael?????

Switch to a front sprocket with a couple more teeth, and you'll be able to ride those speeds at a lower RPM.

Shift gears sooner. You'll get used to it.

The sound comes from the primary drive gears. It's normal for a geared primary and the Triumphs are actually much quieter than most. If you can find a channel with 'CHIPS' reruns and watch an episode or two, you will find that the Triumph primary is much quieter than the police Kow.
Fully synthetic oil and some miles on the bike seem to help quiet it down a bit.
