After you've ridden with them for a while and get a feel for how much power they gained you, make sure you try pulling the snorkel off. Takes all of 1 minute to remove the seat and pull it off and you'll find yourself with about as much of a power gain as you got installing the pipes. i was thinking maybe evem more on my first ride after pulling it!

Try the pipes with the snorkel in first tho...if you don't you won't see how much you get from the pipes and how much the snorkel adds.
By the way, i find the pipes and snorkel have the bike at it's limits of what the stock main jet is capable of. Mines the 05' 865 engine tho, so YMMV if you have the 790. But i can tell you this. I tried to get more airflow and i found that any more and the main jet is too small and the bike's performance then begins to suffer dramatically. So i'm putting some 130's in this week. My stock jets are 120 and yours should be too according to my manual.
So once i put them in i will try the extra airflow trick i heard about in a thread and see how it then reacts to it. This is about cutting the edge off the plate the snorkel goes into so that the hole is now the size of the filter diameter which adds a few inches of extra space for airflow. the thread i read said it make a dramatic difference over and above just snorkel removal and that the bike actually suprised him. the way i did it in order to not cut up the cover was to just remove it. Not good for cleanliness because particles can go in between the filter and the airbox, but i just did it to test and see if it really made the difference he said, then put it back on. However, he also said that like me it killed his performance till he later rejetted at which time he said he got those dramatic improvments.
So once i rejet hopefully i'll remove it and see the results he got. Then another boost in airflow is the new K&N filter for the america/speedy that just came out and will be available at newspeedmaster.com soon. Once i get this whole plate thing working after rejetting, assuming it does work, then i'll get the K&N and see if i can get even more performance, and if not i'll rejet again till it works. At that point i can't see myself needing for more power if i get anywhere near as much gain as i did with the snorkel removal from the plate trick and filter. I'm pretty happy as is, so another boost even as big as snorkel removal will give me enough power to get me where i feel the bike should have been stock. especially if it's at the higher RPM's where it's lacking still, and i think it will when i change the mains which are holding it back.
Just thought i'd pass that on since you're about to go with the same setup as me. hope it helps.

thanks for all that, yeah I will be taking it one step at a time just to see how things all work out, that way I know what works and what does not.

First they go to a mates house and there they will wait until my ship gets back from this deployment and then I'm putting the pipes on and going for a ride to no-where. After being on the ship and bikeless for the past 3 months I am going crazy.

XXXX you know the only reason Queenslanders put 4 x's on their is because they cannot spell Beer. Carlton Draught is the better beer by far after all it does come from Victoria.

or is that because they cannot count... it is an age old arguement between queenlanders and the rest of australia about their beer. Just talking about makes me want to have a beer any beer would do but I will have to wait until 12th Oct before I get to step on land again to have a beer as I am sitting in the middle of the Indian Ocean att.

Pipes have arrived in Sydney but customs has nabbed them and now I will have to wait until I arrive back in sydney to pay the GST on them and then fit them. Oh the joy of dealing with australia post.
