Hey, all --
So I was heading to a rally with some friends on Friday, get 15 miles from home and teh bike just dies on the highway. Engine just stops at 80mph. I coast to the side no problem, but when I hit the starter the solenoid just buzzes.
So:
WTF? There's enough juice in the battery to light the headlight and instruments, but not enough to crank the starter. I haven't had a chance to look at it since then (borrowed a friend's Street Glide and did the rally on that, filled with shame) but I'm not sure where to start. Electrical issues are new to me.
First, need to make absolutely sure all the fuses are ok... but after that? Suggestions?
This is the second time that the bike has mysteriously lost electricity. The first time -- about a month ago -- I jumped on the bike after she'd sat for a while, rode down the street, and a mile from home she died. Came home, charged it up, rode around... did 300 miles in one day last Sunday... no problem. Now this.
Maybe the alternator/generator isn't charging the battery fast enough?
