Unless they are on the small side, they should hold OK. If they do slip at all, cut a strip for each side from an aluminum (aluminium) beverage can just narrow enough to not show in the risers, wrap them one turn around the bars and tighten the riser clamps on them. The softness of the aluminum will grip better.

I put buckhorns on without knurling and just tightened the crap out of them. They do not move.

Don't know if a Triumph would be differnt than a custom build, but Street Choper magazine wrote an article on knurling for custom choppers. They stated that you could borrow or rent a knurling tool or just mark the width of your riser and put a series of small dents with a punch. This would give the clamps all the more to grab on to. No one will probably need the extra grip untill that big pot hole that wants to seen you over your handle bars, then the extra grip may turn out to be quite handy.

Have fun!

there really is no need for this if you tighten your risers properly. most bars do not have knurling on them..

The trick is to get an even gap between the two ends of the riser caps. If you tighten one bolt all the way down, the opposing bolt sometimes will not tighten all the way.
