Went on a two day ride with 2 HD's (Glide and Softail) and a Suzuki GSX 1000. They couldn't believe the handling of my Speedy on how I was loosing the sportbike going thru the turns and that the engine had that much power/torque. One HD owner who was thinking of buying a BMW is now going to look at the new Triumphs. They also loved the sound of the SS Pipes. Funny how when you spend a day or two around our bikes you opinions change.

OK...this scenario calls for one of the 3:
1. You're actually Freddie Spencer
2. The guy on the GSXR is a terrible rider and a disgrace to all sport riders
3. Actually I can't think of a third possiblity without calling you a liar or your friends morons for thinking your America can outride a GSXR, so I'll remain silent...

I think it was more of catching him off guard initially. I didn't say my Speedy was a better handling or more powerful machine than the Suzuki,(I grew up on a GSX-R 1100), rather that their impressions and opinion of the Triumph changed once they spent some time seeing it's capabilities as stated in the Subject Title.

Another possibility is the Gixxer scares the Hades out of it's rider.  Quick-twitch handling, the ability to smack you in the face with the triple clamp, arrester-hook brakes... If the guy just came from a well-mannered, sane bike (like ours) it might take awhile before he trusts the Zook. Of course he could also be hopelessly over his head and destined for DOOM! (or is that BOOM?)

Don't worry, Joe. I see your point, and you're right!
As the old saying goes, "It's more fun to go fast on a slower bike than it is to go slow on a faster bike!"
There are few riders who can really utilize the full potential of most sportbikes out there, and these Triumph cruisers are probably just about the best handling cruisers on the market today. And I think that concept kind of confuses a whole lot of folks out there who think all cruisers can do is nothing but go down a straight road.

I have to agree with Dwight on this, these bikes are possibly the best handling over 30° neck angle platform in the two wheeled world; and they just beg you to push yourself and increase your skill level.

on the same vain, I was out for a run with a guy on a 600 yamaha thundercat and he kept waiting till a straight road then flying past me at great speed, so on one of my fav roads I thought well stuff this if he is going to give me a flypast then he is going to have to be good, open up the speeddy and went through the twisties as fast as it would go, well guess what? he was nowhere to be seen, I was to or three corners ahead all the way. Made my day and when I slowed down at a village he went past me doing about 120, but it was to late we both knew he was an a#*hol#.

h*ll, I'm changing my opinion of my own bike! I was thinking that my new BA wasn't as quick as I would have liked, although I loved everything else about it. Well, now that I've hit 1,000 miles and feel like I've set the engine, I've been pouring on the coals and...well, I'm no longer disappointed. It's not a sportbike maybe, but it's plenty quick.
