Has anyone changed out their Speedy Seat for an Americian one? If so, is the pillion seperate, and how's the comfort compare for the rider?

I did it and I like the stock America seat. You will find many members here that don't though. I hear the SM seat is better for the driver than the America seat but I took mine off the day I bought it so I couldn't verify that.

I hated my stock seat. I liked my Corbin for a while. I liked the gunfighter but hated the feel. I LOVE my gunfighter that has been redone by Richs.

I got my America seat from my dealer. Part of the deal when I bought the bike was to have it thrown in with the P pad and short sissy bar. I have no desire to change it but Wendy has a bad back and wants me to do some work on hers. If I can ever find the time I am going to do a gel insert. May end up paying to have it done due to my time constraints.

I love my single corbin with backrest, even though it has taken about some descent k's to be just right. Now I can sit myself down and just feel like everything is just right to go. And it is

This is one I made last friday night http://www.bikebook.ca/bike/v/user/Hoffo/DSC02175+_Medium__001.JPG.html
That really looks cool. Any other pics from different angles. How does the stiching on the seat affect the comfort?
I'm drewling over those Nortons. Are they yours?

I like the looks of the Speedy seat, that saying, the wife doesn't. That can be good or bad. I like being flexable. The wife doesn't ride with me much, but if I want her to ride with me at all Iam going to need to change the seat. which means, I guess I am going to need two of them. (seats I mean, not wifes, God forbid!)

Gregger, I'll get around to getting some different pics soon of the seat, I rolled out the pan last week & sculptured & trimmed the seat last Friday night with a mate over copious amounts of beer & a bottle of single malt - it was constructed from 2 x 10mm layers of high density foam then 2 x layers of medium density foam & 1x layer 25mm of light density foam, works well for me & the missus Yep they are my 2 Nortons, one's on the road now (Silver) and the other (yellow) is getting a total ground up rebuild- radical Caf. style + a Drouin supercharger

Welcome to the forum, Rimal. To answer your question, I swapped from a Speedie seat to an America seat; the Speedie seat is softer and more comfortable, even over distance. I also think the usable area of the Speedie seat is a lot longer. I'm just a little bit too cramped on the America seat. Hard to explain but the 'step' at the back of the seat is too far forward. That said, when I'm attacking the twisties, I like to sit right up against the tank to get some weight over the front wheel and on the pegs; the America seat is a lot narrower at the front and I find I can control the bike a lot better because of this. I can really clamp my knees against the tank.
The pillion is seperate; I don't bother with it as I think the bike looks a million times better set up as a solo ride (I don't have pillion pegs, either) and, since doing the swap, my bike attracts so much more attention, and not from the "I used to have one o' those..." brigade, either.
I think your best bet is to go and sit on an America and try to get both legs up on the pegs. Make sure you spend more than a few minutes sitting and moving around, as you would when you're riding.

Thanks for the info, by the way, I like the looks of your fly screen. Does it help, or just look good?

Both. It adds about 10mph onto the comfy cruising speed and takes the blast from my chest. I imagine if I bent the bracket so the screen was more upright, it'd reduce more of the wind but a. I like the way it fits in with the lines of the bike and b. the bracket is as over-engineered as the rest of the bike and is, therefore, bloody tough!! It also hides the clock and associated cables and provides a little stash place for, in my case, waterproof pants. I've also attached a revlight to the inside of it, at the top; with my jet helmet, it's in the bottom of my vision as I ride along.
