How can I tell when to change out my rear tire on my speedmaster. I have 6000 miles on her. I never got more then that on my Fat-boy. I don't ride hard, but the roads out here are oil and chip.

Well you are supposed to change a tire when it gets to the wear limit but you can actually run quite a bit farther. If you run it smooth be careful in wet weather when the tread is gone.
As far as wear time, that really can't be answered simply. In addition to the road conditions there is the way you ride and the compound the tire is made of and even the weather. A tire will wear a little faster on very hot roads than on cold roads with the same rider/tire/road surface. Then there is also the weight of the rider and bike.
I got 13,000 out of my rear Metz. Marathon and the front is still going at 20,000.

There should be a spot where the tread isn't as deep. I never looked for it on any of the stock tires since I run them until they are dangerous then change. I guess it is possible there isn't a wear indicator on them. If I remember right the limit is 3/32 of tread needed to pass inspection, in PA anyway.(could be 5/32) If you put a penny in the tread it should be at least to the top of lincolns head.

I don't see any wear bars on the ME880 rear on mine either. I would watch the tread near the center of the tire and replace when it gets down to about 3/32 inch deep, top of Lincoln's head on an upside down penny. I had to change the original at 9000 due to a nail, and have 31,000 now. That's 21,000 on the second rear tire (and yeah, it's due for a change). The front Metz Lazertec have wear bars.
Remember, the center of your tire will wear faster than the outside. So if you do a lot of slab riding and don't get to play in the twisties much, the center can be worn out while the outer tread is still like new.

That's easy. When you look at what you are riding over instead of where you are going! Or when you stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway after scraping pegs, look at your tire and say to yourself, OMG! or when bmw riders offer unsolicited advise about when to change tires. Hard tires (old tires) can have a full compliment of tread but are slick as snot.
Bottom line is: When you don't trust the tire anymore or it looks like this
