One station in Tulsa hit $3.09 per gallon for unleaded regular today. Most are at $3.12 and $3.15. I usually try to find non-ethanol gas for a dime more per gallon, at least for the bike.

We are still between $3.50 and $3.75 out here in Oregon. Unfortunatley our stupid green governor made it law that all of our gas has to be at minimum E10.

Ya Soren,

....and Oregon doesn't allow self-service pumps either. It isn't that hard. If people in Norh Dakota can figure self-service out, I'm sure you folks could also. Well at least the farm & ranch types east of the mountains, not so sure about the west side

Anyone remember when the gallons used to go faster on the pump counters than the dollars?

Yep and I also remember the mechanical rolling numbers behind the glass on the pumps too. I think cheapest I remember is about 40 cents a gallon.

I remember when they'd check your oil and clean your windshield too.
On our way to the NY rally this year we stopped for gas in the town of Renovo in north central PA. 2 pumps right on the sidewalk with the rolling numbers - 1 gas, 1 diesel. The owner wrote the gallons down on a pad on a clipboard, then told us how much we owed. Didn't offer to clean my windshield though....

$3.49 is the cheapest I've seen here lately.

I remember gas in the 40s... Anyone else remember that little bladed thing in a glass bubble on top of the old pumps that used to swirl around as the gas flowed? And a bell that used to ring. Once for each gallon? Now before you label me as old as dirt (I'm not quite there yet, I hope), I did grow up in a very small town...

A couple years ago they finally passed a law saying that motorcyclists can pump their own gas and then this year thay are allowing people that drive deisel vehicles to pump thier own gas too.

BTW.. for those that don't know, in Oregon it is ilegal to pump your own gas. It is much safer to have a 16 year old kid do it for you.

Kind of funny though, the gas prices in Washington are about the same price.

I remember the windshield being cleaned and oil checked too, I even worked at one where I had to do that when I was a kid.I just went through a town here in PA where the guy had 2 of those old pumps right on the edge of the sidewalk. So you pulled up as if to parallel park to get gas. Didn't stop so I don't know what the guy did when you actually bought some.

Don't remember the little thing turning but I do remember the little bell that rang out the gallons.

I hope that's not a requirement for the fueling of motorcycles up there too, is it Soren?

You can't pump your own in NJ either but not all stations I have pulled into adhere to that law.

Surely that ban doesn't also include the filling of your own motorcycle's gas tank, does it???

Thanks, Soren. I was wonderin' about that. So, they have to start the pump, huh?! Do they also have to insert your credit card into the thing too???

(hmmmmm...must have some pretty strong "gaspump jockey unions" up that way, huh?!)

This past August in Bahrain, it was about $0.75/gallon if I've got my conversions right. Nevertheless, it was dirt cheap compared to the Seattle area. And we have some big ol'refineries just a couple of hours north of us.

And I'd never ride a bike there, it's 95+F at 6AM this time of the year and the drivers (especially the Saudis) are crazy. Almost had a couple of wrecks, just driving a car, because those idiots think they can do whatever they want. No way, would I ride a bike. But I do have a cool Bahrain H-D tee shirt.

I'm told, from a Qatari acquaintance, that the price of gas in Dubai is comparable to the US.

And I still have the memory of my first trip to Saudi, about 18 years ago. We could not drive the car into the filling station. Instead an attendant would greet you at entrance and drive the car to the pump for you. He would then remove the gas cap and use his lighter to check the tank level!!

Todays prices in sunny Cleveland. Over $4 for the good stuff if you can find it, and anything from $3.65 to $4 for the regular.

BUT, the locals gas stations are running out again today.

Supply finally seems to be stabilizing around Atlanta. Prices also falling back to pre-Ike levels. Paid 3.84 for mid-grade yesterday.

This summer while driving through rural Maine, I stopped for gas and the station had the "old" style mechanical drums, which was kind of cool. Funny (not so) thing was they had a big sign saying that "price on the pump is only half" because they couldn't calibrate the pump to register gas prices that high.
