I just purchsed a set of specialty spares long slash cuts. After being a little dissapointed with the note coming out at midrange (too raspy). Here's the tip. Take the setscrew out of the baffle and use whatever long pipe you have to knock it all the way to up to the header pipe. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes. (Something to do with the resonance all that space creates) And that's it! Awesome sounding pipes!

So what keeps the baffle from blowing out the back of the pipe? I understand you probably lodged it in there but over time its bound to loosen up and slip out.

Had the Specialty Spares installed yesterday. Love the sound and there isn't any loud popping on decel (new jetting?) Seems to be a little louder at interstate speed than the Bub exhaust. Very pleased.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

I have the SS long cannons and can't complain about any raspiness, I love the way these sound.

+1 although mine are long slash cuts. I think the difference between the two primarily appearance. At one time I thought about adding some more baffle material, but since doing the 904BB, I wanted to leave it as is.

I guess you could simply put the screw back in the exhaust skin with a nut. Wouldn't secure the baffle but It'd stop it being fired out at a cage.
I wrapped some chicken wire around the baffle material, effectivly compressing the weave as per "Triumphant's" advice. Always been happy with the sound but might try this one to see what the difference is.

I just pulled my baffles and removed about 50% of the packing material. Covered with a piece of hardware screen and put them back in place (with set screw). If your set screw isn't into the baffle, but just in the pipe to keep the baffle from slipping all the way out, I'm sure have some locktite on that screw so it doesn't vibrate out.

My bike is now a snarling beast (ok, a lil' 790cc beast):). Did I mention that I love my SS Long Cannons?
