65 mph posted speedlimit + 79 mph ticket= $250 mail in fine.

Safty lecture from State Trooper barly old enough to shave.
Begining with "I'm tired of scarpinig you guys off the road"
Ending with "I'm gieing you a break because at least you have a helmet on"

Pricless

Yeah, CT math is a b--ch. Read yesterday some judge in New Haven ordered a victim to pay back the man that robbed him in a business deal (very reader's digest version). Anyway, sorry to hear about the ticket; they're certainly no fun.

I recall a newspaper article 8 or 10 years ago claiming that the commie state issued 27 million dollars worth of tickets in one year alone.

It's all about safety!

...not

Our ICC/MC/DOT number came from the year 1934, and was 5 digits. In later years, the numbers issued had increased to 6 digits. We were given a ticket in CT for not having a leading zero in front of the 5 digits to make it into six digits. That should make the roads much safer.

In other news...
My wife's uncle worked in one of the CT courthouses. He claims that when they decide to nolle or demand an appearance, 15 MPH over is the point of no return, & so at 14 MPH over, you may have a shot at a nolle by pleading not guilty, depending upon your MVR. You mileage may vary.

On the other hand, I sent in a seat belt ticket as not guilty, and I have to appear. I'm appearing just to waste their time, and perhaps grovel shamelessly for an alternate consequence to keep it off my MVR. The state already spent the 313 bajillion we gave them, and so it's time for them to make it anyway they can.

Here in GA if I'm on I85 and the posted limit is 65 and if I don't ride at least 70-75 I would be asking for trouble. I think people read the I85 sign as the speed limit. I ride the HOV lane and cagers on regular lanes pass me by like if I'm cruising at 55-60.

2 years ago I fought a speeding ticket, sent in the not guilty plea, and went to court. Cost me a days pay..but
the "Arresting Officer" did not show up.And the ticket was
nolled before I ever saw the judge.State's Attorney said.
"you got away with this one.get out of here"

Thing is you take a gamble. If you fight it and lose you also have to pay court costs.

(But If i fight this one, it means I have to tell the Mrs about it.. )
