I plan on doing the 904 BB this winter with port & polish on the heads. Was wondering if it makes a difference to go up one mm on the valves if I'm not changing the carbs?

I upgraded to the +1mm valves for a future purchase of carbs, I will be satisfied with my current results when I get the dip out of the mid-range

Try a(nother) shim under the carb needles for the mid range dip. Or even the TBS needles.
