07 america,AI removed.
carbs adjusted,,,2 3/8 turns out

installed tachometer, hole sawed first baffle and re-adjusted carbs to above and noticed my right exhaust (outer) is turning yellow.

pressure at exhaust end seems weaker on right side compared to left.

sound is also thump-ee-r on left than on right(right seems almost stock sounding)

anyone with some thoughts and help?

thanks,,,,,Les

Did you balance the carbs? If you did balance them, next check the exhaust header nuts, they tend to get loose. Check for vacuum leaks at the intake manifold, make sure the squirrel condoms aren't cracked. Rebalance, if the problem is still there, then you have something stuck or blocked in the right carb.

hey thanks for reply,,,

vacuum gauges are in the works,,,
will check header nuts,,,,,
will check for vacuum leaks,,,
squirrel condoms???

something stuck in right carb is most likely it,,,,,,i thought i was removing the pilot adjust cap on right carb, but was what i believe a bowl vent cap,,,,pilot adjust is on bottom of carb, not outer side.
there were drill fillings in the port that i'm sure i did not get'em all removed, and when i fired the bike up it sucked some metal dust into the carb(I'm a dumb-azz).

this weekend i will be installing #42 pilot jets and #30 mains(hows that sound?)

the carbs will be thouroughly cleaned,,,,.

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO,,,

iou

Squirrel condom is slang that is used on this board for the little rubber boots that fit over the vacuum ports. It's good to keep spares handy.

As for the jets, I recommend that you use Pat's jet calculator to determine the size that is best for your set-up. His website is www.dinqua.com or you can find it in the tech vault. 130 mains may be a tad large for one baffle removed on the stock pipe. However, if you intend to keep removing baffles and pull the snorkel they may be fine. 42 pilots should be stock, shouldn't need to change them.

Where are these vacuum ports located?
I want to pick up some spares to have on hand but at this point wouldn't be quite sure where they go with out going over the bike with a fine toothed comb.

There are four vacuum (ports) nipples that come stock with rubber caps (squirrel condoms)on them. One on the front top of each carb just behind the rubber manifold coupling.
Then one on the top of each intake manifold next to the engine head.

cleaned carbs and re-jetted.

had 40 pilots and 120 mains -- stock
now have 42 pilots and 130 mains, modified uni-filter,opened up filter housing, removed snorkle.

only have one baffle removed so far.
still making a tool to remove the 2nd offset baffle.

so far it starts easier, low-end pick-up is slightly improved(had a lot of balls already). wot sounds rich as was expected(2nd baffle removed should cure that).

thankyou superman for your help, my yellowing problem is solved
