I grew up in that area ~~ League City ~~ smack dab in between Houston and Galveston. I see hurricane Ike is headed your way ~~ know that I will be thinking about you and praying for you. I remember hurricane season well ~~ I don't envy you.

I have the Galveston webcams bookmarked as a favorite place ~~ it looks like the storm is starting to stir things up. It looks like tomorrow should be the big day.

Arkansas will likely get the rains similar to what we got from Gustav last week, but I'm READY this time! I'm traveling to Hartford, Connectthedots for the week.

Thanks for the link Rob. My dad is down in that area, Baycliff. He used to live in League City a number of years ago. I called him yesterday and he's going to ride it out. Definately praying for him.

Rec'd an email from the Baltimore Ravens, the Texans have moved Sunday's game to Monday night due to the SOB Ike. Here's hoping our Texan board members are OK.

I grew up in Pasadena, Tx.

I was one when Carla hit in '61, and was in Livingston, Tx when Alicia hit on '83. Had to drive to Huntsville,Tx and back through the middle of that one (to work). That was my first, but of course we have had many close calls.

My home flooded with Allison, 7 years ago (22" inside, 48" on my back fence), as I live along a concrete gulley. I am resigned to the fact that I will again Saturday, so If you don't hear from me, the lights are out.

As of now, I'm still on the dirty side of Ike, according to the latest track forcast.

We have to "hunker down", and see what happens. I'm not looking forward to it.

Lucky you. Good time to be going to Hartford as the gun fire has subsided a bit, ever since the mayor impossed the curfew on kids under 18.I think the street shootings are down to one or two a week. But I guess riding out a hail of lead in Connecthedots, beats a little rain in Arcanass.

I'll be spending most of my time at Bradley (Windsor Locks) and upstate NY visiting prospects and customers.

Well Bill, don't forget...there's ONLY ONE Brett Favre in the NFL, who always played his best in crappy weather!!!

(why do you think the Jets wanted him, anyway???...with more and more hurricanes AND those Nor'Easterns hitting this country, they're ALL SET for the season, dude!!!...SUPERBOWL HERE THEY COME!!!!)

Try this also:

Dallas and Shreveport are both receiving tropical storm warnings. In Austin, we have less than a 50% chance of rain.

There's an open rally this weekend here in Hot Springs AR. We're suppose to get up to 6" of rain from Ike starting Saturday night. It's Friday afternoon, and the streets should be crowded with bikes. It isn't so....

Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Getting a little worried now. News is showing fires in Houston where my son is a firefighter. Can't reach him or any of my family there.

Hope all the folks in Texas are ok! Live in Florida so we have been on the edge of our seats for the last month. Even though it missed us Ike caused some high surf and street flooding this week in St Pete

Heard from all my family members, all OK. Some of them haven't been back to their homes, so no damage reports yet. Looks like I'm headed to Houston with a generator and chainsaw. Parents still without power (they are in their 80's), lots of tree branches down.

I wound up on the clean side, after all. Took the winds from the North, then from the West. Lots of trees down, fences and power lines, too, but no water in my house, no damage to the roof, and everyone safe. Could have been a lot worse, here.

The devistation in Galveston and along Bolivar Peninsula is surreal.

Anyone along the upper Texas coast or along Galveston Bay may have lost everything. A lot did, I know.

I'm without power at the house, maybe for another few days, even though most of my neighborhood has power tonight. Trees took down lines running through my backyard, and may require a pole or two to be replaced. I'm at my mother-in-law's tonight. Just thought I would check in.

Thanks for all the well-wishes from all who did.

Just left Houston. The majority of the city is without power. Impossible to find gasoline. My son the firefighter used his credentials to fuel up my truck or I would be stuck there. Got my parents set up with my generator and cleaned up their yard. The damage to the city's trees is unbelievable. Downed branches and foliage clogged up storm sewer inlets all over. Many coastal landmarks are absolutely gone. It will be a long time before things are back to normal.
