Well the so called "Ducati Demo truck" was full of Hypermotards. Not a bad thing so much, but I was really hoping to ride a Monster.... The good thing it was a long ride, full half hour, much longer than most demo truck rides! So 12 hypermotards saddled up and off we went. Traffic prevented an ocean parkway ride, but we did have to do a couple extra on/off ramps to turn around, which are VERY fun on that bike! The weirdest part was not being able to see the speedo without looking down. Not just glancing, but actually lowering my head to get a look. I also don't like the skinny bars, I'm used to my football grips, so my hands were cramping up.
Overall, it's a real nice bike. The motor protests (read shakes) below 3 grand, but after that it's a nice smooth thrust up to 7K. That's about all I got. 75 in 6th gear is about 3K, so I spent my time in 4th and 5th mostly.
Some of the guys were all leaning off the seat in turns, etc, but me and my fatazz were stayin put. I just leaned more. It's not like we were even coming close to the limit... Only one shaky moment, a mid-turn bump, and looking back it handled it very well.
So keep an eye out in your neighborhood! It's a fun time, altho I wish they had other bikes there too.
Oh way, they had one other bike there.... but not for rides
This one.
Edited to fix the pic. You can find larger pics if you google "Roland Sands Hypermotard".
