Just going through some stuff on youtube as I am looking to get some new pipes for my America. I came across a video called " Chevy 605 pipes " they are on a speedmaster/america and the sound they produce is just what I am after...anyone know what Chevy 605 pipes are? There is another vid of someone doing a flyby with them! Might be the same guy.

My pipes from Chevy 605 will arrive on Wed. 9/3. I'm stoked! These pipes are original BA pipes that he modified.

I bought a set from him but they weren't loud enough so I removed the last baffle he had left in. Also learned what was inside those pipes that way and started gutting them for people.

How often are you going to ride behind your bike?

I was waiting for that! Just if they are that loud they are not what I want. I have now gone through all the brands for our bikes and its between the chevy 605's and the Thunderbikes. Obviously there is a big difference in price.

Not really, I think Staintunes are about $1000, Thunderbikes are about $850. Pipes that are specifically made for our bikes arent cheap.

Those prices are all ridiculous! I even think the Sceptres at $650 are over priced. ($650 last I checked and it's been a while)

I agree. For that price they should at least pull your pants down before continuing the rape. $650, $800, $1000???? Are they titanium? Are they platinum plated? That is just crazy. I have bought motorcycles for less money, and rode them home!!

I'm glad they came on my bike when I bought it, I may have gotten BuBs otherwise

I think that the Sceptres are nice pipes but not $650 worth of nice. I think that the Bubs were in the $300 to $350 range if I remember right. Now that is much more reasonable for a pair of pipes.

I think that the pipes which come on our bikes look incredible. That's why I gut them to keep the look. Also, everyone I've done this for raves about the sound. If this was not an option I would pay any price for the best looking pipes I could find. Something about cool looking exhaust, gotta have it!

My 605 pipes arrived yesterday and look awesome. Top quality work. I plan on installing these tomorrow morning, since I have the day off.
His installation notes suggest using the A I removal kit to stop the popping on decel. Any thoughts?

OK ... 605's installed and this bike has come to life. The sound is awesome, throaty but not way loud. I haven't done the AI removal yet and there is a slight popping on decel. Really, not as bad as I thought it would be.
I have a real hard time paying close to $30 for 2 bolts and 2 copper washers and 2 plugs.

If I'm correct, those have the first two baffles removed. How would you say they compare in that configuration to the long, straight-through TORS?

so I removed the last baffle he had left in.
Does that mean you're running straight pipes? I'm asking about this because I just bought a set of used stock pipes on eBay at a good price. I'm saving my originals in case I decide to quiet the bike someday, but the eBays will let me experiment. I'm running TORS now, and just wondering how the stockers with two/three baffles removed compare in terms of loudness and tone.
BTW, I'm with you guys on the cost of aftermarket pipes. I can think of so many better things to do with that kind of money. Maybe an electronic tollway buster, or a mobile cellphone jammer...

You don't need to buy the kit you can get the same stuff from hardware stores and auto parts stores for just a few bucks. The plugs won't be fancy but they will be functional and the little rubber vacuum caps are very cheap from the auto parts store. Small hunk of screen and black silicone will plug the air box or a chrome push in plug from the hardware store will plug the air box. Probably get all the stuff for less than $10. The plugs for the head you could shoot with some high temp black or gray to make them blend and not rust.

I have to disagree with the no re-jet needed part. Those are almost totally gutted pipes and most certainly need to be accompanied by re-jetting or you will run scary lean. Re-jetting is a simple matter but requires some patience since you may have to jet a couple times before you get it right. Use Pat's jetting calculator and select 2 baffles drilled along with what ever else fits your set up and location and that will get you in the ballpark for those pipes. click for Pat's jetting calculator and more

The link to the jetting calculator takes me to a .exe file. This file type can not be opened with a Mac. (.exe files can host a virus that whack your PC... not that this one does) Would someone tell me the results for a stock 07 BA in South Carolina? How can I tell if the bike is running "scary lean"?

If you post your elevation and set up as far as AI , pipes , air filtration and such I'll be glad to run it through for you. I know you have the Chevy 605 pipes but what about the rest? Be sure to include the size of your pilot jet as that plays into the main jetting. I have stuff to do so if I don't run it I'm sure someone else will or I will when I can tonight or maybe tomorrow.

Everything is stock except for changing to the 605's. 1000- 2500' elevation.

Would you or some one else care to run my set up as my Mac won't allow me to get to the Calculator. '07 Speedmaster. Ai and snorkle removed. K & N filter to be added. Two complete baffles removed [Maybe take the 3rd one out]. Elevation 823'. Stock jets and mains. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Don

123.5 is what the calculator says your main should be with 2 baffles drilled and a 42 pilot. Your 3 rd baffle is drilled but not removed. Check your pilot since I seem to remember later bikes had a smaller pilot. 122.5 main if you increase to a 45 pilot and leave the rest alone.

126.5 with 2 baffles out and all snorkels pulled (you should only have the one) This is again with a 42 pilot and you may have a smaller one. Also did thise for 1000' since the next step down is sea level.
All baffles removed 130.5 main with 42 pilot.
2 baffles out , 45 pilot , 125.5 main.
all baffles out, 45 pilot,129.5.
This may take some adjustment and playing since you have have a catalytic converter.
