Does anyone have any reccomendations for custon paint work?

Not very impressed by the triumph paint, after just a few months the tank was looking dull and scratches easily, even after a good polish its not great.

so thinking a full spray over the winter maybe something a bit different.

any advice would be much appreciated
martin

Are you looking at doing it yourself Martin or getting a proper custom sprayer to do it..

Before you go to the expense of a new paint job have you tried giving it a proper clean? Not being flippant, just asking. It's a bit of a palaver but well worth the time. Won't bore you with the famous "two bucket method" or the full detailing clean

1. Using a lambs wool mitt and car shampoo wash bodywork (Fairy Liquid contains salt and abrasives!)
2. Dry with a clean multi fibre cloth or chamois (Polyester and polyester blend towels scratch paint!)
3. Time for the detailing clay and spray to get all the road grime off. You will be amazed what this stuff picks up from the apparently clean paintwork!
4. Repeat 1 and 2!
5. Apply wax and buff to a perfect shine using a clean lint free cloth

Personally i wouldn't use a polish unless paintwork was quite old and uncared for with lots of swirl marks. Even then it would only be as a one off to recover the paint condition.

Cheers

Mark

Was definitely thinking of a proper sprayer, have my eye on some ghost flames..

I will take your advice Mark and give her a good wash and wax. i will admit that i havent spent as much time on it as i should.
until today my bike was outside in the street! in all weather, but she is now in an underground car park, so hopefully ill be able to keep her in better condition.

But if anyone does know a good sprayer i am still interested in the custom job

Just a thought but why not try obtaining a used tank from ebay or a breakers and practice on that.

When you mess up you just strip the paint and start again.

Then when you have the effect you wanted then you can stand back and say that was your own work.

Just a thought.

Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

had though about getting my own spray gun and trying my hand.. not that i am artistic in any way shape or form.

But at around £100 minimum for a compressor and gun, i though i would leave it for another project. plus i am lacking a garage/shed to do the work in.

thats the problem with central London!!
