I'm sure that many of us in the UK have been aware that the police have tried banning motorcycle rallies in various parts of the UK.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/mid/7400748.stm

People attending the Bulldog bash were also made to feel slightly uncomfortable by the police as well.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/coventry_warwickshire/7546608.stm

People I have spoke to about the event have said that the police presence including armed officers were being quite heavy handed and there was a few arrests for possession of camping knives.

Consider a bike rally to this:

I bet the police won't say a word to close this event down though!

Rant over!

18 people killed in London in July has London been shut down, no. The police today are acting on behalf of the government. They should reflect upon the actual meaning of Policeman as should the government. Check the statistics on the link above.

Bikers are an easy target one shot and we all suffer. How many crack dealers /addicts die due to gun crime.

Politically incorrect to play the race card but most bikers are white middle class and scared of the police. Easy to intimidate.

The areas with highest crime in the UK are mainly coloured lower working class areas. Fear of the police is non existant.

The race card has been played for so long now its becoming absurd. I dont care about colour if you are a criminal then thats what you are colour does not come into it. I dont care about your race if you are a racist thats what you are. I dont care about your religion if you are a bigot then that is what you are.

So I am politically incorrect for saying good people are good people. Bad people are bad people. I have had enough I am ashamed to say I am British we were once proud now we have been emasculated by liberal trendy do gooders.

Would the last person to leave please switch the lights off.

Wow, that does seem a little over the top. Talk about a massive knee jerk reaction.

Any way the last sentence in this article that you posted tells you the real difference

http://www.orange.co.uk/news/uk/20929.htm

Public safety and police safety sit in the back of the bus in light of that.

Does this also mean then that the police will put a stop to the 50th anniversary of the Bonneville at Gaydon next year

Ray in theory and reality the police could put a reason of concern, this requires no proof or any hard evidence, in front of the local council and have any license for the event revoked.

This is what worries me we (Bikers) are rarely seen as the guys who do so much for kids charities i.e. easter egg runs and xmas runs. The amount of local charities supported by the various club rallies must be huge. We hear very little positive about bikers.

One biker is shot one biker gets caught speeding and we are all painted as rape and pillage merchants. IMO we are and have been for far to long an easy target. The BMF and MAG really need to start being a bit more militant in there approach. If this was France ferry ports would be shut down and lorries would be hijacked. They French would be out in force making their voices heard.

This is all part of a bigger scheme to get rid of motorcycles. Look at the fiasco surounding the new test. A lot of folk cannot be tested as they did not update the computer software to allow for the new tests. Those areas which have had the upgrade done do not have new test facilities available. So those people cannot be tested either.

the cop in the bulldog bash clip said "we are here to prevent people from interfering with people coming and going to the event. isn't that exactly what they were doing?

Kind of related...

we were talking at work last night about the police organisation at Reading for the recent festival. I didn't see it as I (wisely) had the weekend off. But it's said that they were treating everyone as guilty before proven for drugs offenses. I know people going to festivals take a little stuff with them, but they were not letting ANYONE one to the station before walking past a sniffer dogs....even staff.
We want them on trains after a football match (Reading vs Bristol City springs to mind) and they haven't got the staff....

They just want to stop people having a good time.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Yes, they do have it all wrong. The easy low cost way to spoil the fun at motorcycle rallies is to start a motorcycle fad among the RUB types and create a number of church backed motorcycle clubs. Since these trends started in the US, the best motorcycle rallies have all either closed down completely or have become so dull as to be not worth attending.
