I have to ask.

I posted about my 06 just dying, and how I blamed the heat to start with, till it happened just after leaving work, in the rain.

No one seemed to come up with a suggestion, but it hasn't happened since so I wasn't worried.

However over the last couple of days the starter button has decided not to work. I can go up to the bike, turn the alarm off, and put the key in, turn the ignition on, the lights for neutral and oil pressure come on, I hit the start button and nothing happens. Press it a couple of time more and he roars into life. Done it a couple of times.

Could the two be related?

I'm going in with a warped front disk soon - they don't know this.... - so it'll be warranty work. Hopefully.

Any thoughts please.

I would suggest a bad connection G, maybe water gone in under the switch gear. I vaseline (lightly) my connections under the switches.

Worth a try, also mention it when you take it in to the stealer. Missing mine already - nothing to clean and the garage looks bare..

sounds similar to a situation I had, turned out to be a loose ground on the battery

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

If the alarm has an immobilization feature it could be the controller (brain, module whatever) malfunctioning or wiring problem.. it could cause both issues.

Most likely a dodgy earth connection as mentioned, possibly a sticky solenoid. Get a volt meter or test light and probe the switch connection on the solenoid (the smallest of the wires) to see if you get 12V when you hit the button - if you do it's not the starter button and is most likely a connection loose someplace. I've even seen it caused by loose solenoid mounting bolts.

Had better not be - the stealer put a new battery on less than 2 months ago.

I might just stick with it for now.... I'm waiting to get the disk changed till the week before I do the twin disk upgrade.... if I can't pick him up and then ride to my parents to do the work! As part of that work I have to take all around the starter switch off, so I can clean it up and put it all back then.

I might drop by the stealer on the way to work and book it in..they are normally backbooked by 3 weeks.
