Hello...Im a long time lurker of this board..I have a 07 sm in black (the fast one). I have since put on chromwerks shorty pipes that have 3 1/2" holes drilled in the baffle..I have removed the boot under the seat for the air box...I have also added the air injection removal kit which seems to me to be a must... I also have custom rear led turn signals that are in the lower bolt hole spots on the rear license plate...if people want pics let me know...
Anyway back to my original subject...Lowering...I have been searching this board long and hard looking for the best way to lower the bike to go the lowest that i can go...I read that alot of shock manufactures make a 11.5" which is a 1.5" drop from factory...however i have read people lowering 2" using a "street boogie bracket"? I have searched for this bracket and i have found nothing..again i am only wanting to lower the back.. thanks in advance Scott Stoner

Scott,
I have been doing the same research with a bunch of help from the board. Here is what I have found out:
Unfortunately Street Boogie has closed shop and is not an option. They posted in the vendor section re closing. I was bummed as well.
Seems most after market shocks (listed for our bikes) stop at 1.5" lower. However, if you go into the sportster realm I have seen down to 10" but might be a bit of a gamble regarding fit/clearance/performance.
The other option is cutting down the stock shocks. I know skydivejeff and others have done this and gone nice and low. I am leaning this direction myself, but am trying to figure out how to disassemble the shock so I can cut from the top of the spring. No luck as of yet on how to get them apart. Old ones just needed to compress the springs and remove a c-clip, the top cap and spring would slide off...I believe ours are threaded?

street boogie brakets will probably be hard to find because street boogie stopped business. You can try posting in the classifieds and see if anyones getting rid of them.
I have cut stock springs that brings the center-to-center measurement of the shock bolts to 10-3/8" unloaded. Skydivejeff posted a diagram on where to cut somewhere in the customs section, if youre interested.
I also believe that hagon shocks can be ordered to a desired spec. and are a decent price. You can ask Ian, "the dog33" about that.

the black things on the bottom of the licence plate.....they are hyperbright led's.....they will blind your butt at night if you get to close...but during the day they are hard to see...i usually throw hand signals anyway...

Check with Boogieman @ streetboogie@tx.rr.com. He can make you a set of lowering brackets if you want. I think he may have a set on the shelf.

A shock is a shock is a shock! NOT! Becareful when going for ecconomy, our bikes have wonderful shocks on them, think about it. One of the problems that folks have with going short is scrapping pipes. It's not so much the lowering but how much the shocks load up and compress in hard corners that causes it. The cheaper shocks, no matter who makes them sacrifice valving to get cheaper. The cheaper the shock, the more likely to compress way too easy and you sacrifice performance. Our stock shocks are lacking because of economy. One of the reasons aftermarkets improve our bikes is the quality goes up. The more the quality goes up, the better the performance. Weight on the bike affects response too, that is why some brands offer heavy duty because their standard duty will not perform well once a certain load is hit. Just something to think about. eddy
