i was just curious about the search feature on these forums...when i specify in the advanced search feature to look in 'subject only', is there a way to make it so that i'm only looking for individual threads, not every single reply to a thread as well? it seems like there is a 300 count limit to search returns, most of which inevitably ends up being returns on the same thread with every single reply included. that limits the actual threads being returned (e.g., 6 threads with 50 replies each would fill the 300 count return, rather than 300 independent threads). imho, changing this (or maybe i just haven't seen where this delimiter is on the search page) would make searching work better, and more comprehensive, and would consequently result in fewer question threads being generated, and hence fewer responses akin to 'search first, goofus'

there are 10 kinds of people in the world. those that understand binary, and those that don't.

The search only returns terms in your query. If you add a plus sign before each term, it will require that all those be present in the results. Add more terms to narrow the search. But if the title has all your search terms, you will see all the posts in that thread. There's nothing that can be done about that. Just try and narrow your search.

gotcha. i figured a way around it, using the code you guys implement. a simple -"re:" fixes it so that i only get pertinent threads, not the replies to the thread as well. thanks!
