I heard geese flying overhead yesterday morning. NOT a good sign!

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Yep winter is on the way.
So I spent what should have been a good riding day
getting ready for it.

Absolutely! There's nothing like a -25F wind chill to wake you up on the way to work!

I'm very lucky I reckon. It stays nice enough here year round to ride as long as it ain't rainin'/snowin' when I open the garage door.

It is supposed to be 105 on Thursday and Friday. Isn't Las Wages just as warm as Fresno?

Gee Rev, evidently you've never been told how the town of Fresno got it's name, huh?!

You see, years ago right after Kit Carson first made it over the High Sierras and down into California lush Central Valley(but first stopping by to say hello and "chow down" with the Donner Party ), Carson asked the first indian he met(by present location, about where Hwy99 meets Hwy41) why it seemed so much warmer down there as compared to where the Donners were stuck.

And when the intrepid pathfinder asked the indian if it ever gets really cold around there, the indian answered, "Freeze?" No!"

(and as you can probably tell, over the years that was shortened to...well, I'm sure you know the rest here, right?!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

It's been cold here in Brisbane, just starting to show signs of warmth in the last couple of days. A couple of weeks ago me & the missus had to make a dash home (30 miles) on the America- ambient tempeture was -1 deg C , god knows what the wind chill factor was, it took us 25 mins. instead of the usual 45 mins. slipped into copius amounts of Single Malt when we got home, don't remember much after that

We're finally back down into the 70's this week. Woohoo!

I think we may have approached 100 here last weekend. It definitely topped 100 when I was in Spokane last weekend.

Lately, the ride into work has been in the f50's. Brr. Chilly. But usually I ride until my eyeballs freeze.

Jes ride slower and you won't be so cold. Mope down Summerlin Parkway at 50 in the grandma lane and take 95 North at 55 instead of 80. Avoid 215 totally and all that grooved concrete (gives me the willies) and stick to surface streets after 95, like Ann road. Smell the moist air near Angel Park GC and enjoy the ride.

Better yet continue on to Lake Mead and take a ride up the west coast of Lake Mead to Valley of Fire in the AM. Enjoy the sunrise and have a decent breakfast in Overton and come on back down 15 to home and a good days sleep before going back to Red Rock in the evening.

It was in the 60's here this morning on the ride in to work. With the warm weather we've been having lately I dang near frooze to death. Got to break out the regular leather jacket and stow the blow through.

Yeah Bill. I've noticed going to work at 6:30 AM, that it's a bit cooler.

Coming home at 6:00PM though, it's still hot

The probelm is it was cold and raining all through late july and early august. 3 straight weeks of it.
So it feels like we missed a season. We have had a nice couple of weeks lately that almost make up for it. The wife is riding into work everyday and I'm taking the bike to meetings etc.
We've been trying to knock out as much hay as we can and last night I started back up on splitting wood. Got 3-4 cords of the 6-7 required all set to go.

What he said! Couldn't stand to live where my bike would have to be put up for the winter. Glad we moved south.
