the new metallica single "the day that never comes" is supposed to be debuted tomorrow at 11am PST and the albums supposed to come out september 12th. Ive been waiting to see what its supposed to sound like since its being compared to the missing link between "and justice for all" and the black album. Rick Rubin producing it got my attention since every album hes ever produced was always top notch. And the addition of Robert Trujillo as a writer can definately help them get a new direction since he played a big part in suicidal tendencies. The new albums supposed to have more of a groove "rage against the machine" flow in some spots and takes the whole length of the cd.
I got my fingers crossed cause I havent had the need to hear anything from them in a long time..haha

Oh, yippee... There hasn't been this much excitement since EVER. At my age, I don't think that I can handle banging my head against a wall, but heavy metal music makes me really want to. And, NOT out of enjoyment, either.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up for the new album. I wasn't a big fan of some kind of monster. And Metallica owes us all our money back for the movie.

I don't think anyone could possibly criticize Conway Twitty and his band of dusty cowboys...
Kidding. Go ahead and criticize them.
Actually, I've taken lately to listening to nothing - at least when I drive. I hardly ever turn on the stereo in my car, since it's the same old crappola played 50 zillion times over and over. Sometimes, I get nauseous when 'Free Bird' or 'Hotel Freakin' California' comes on. Heavy metal music has never been to my taste, but then again, neither has Bob Dylan.

I would have liked to have gone to Reading festival this weekend because Metallica are topping the bill but £69 for a day ticket is ridiculous. So not to be let down it looks like a night out watching Slayer later in the year.
Having said that they are a top live band although some of their later releases are a long way off the days of Alcohollica!
Now let me see if I can get this link to work ok.

Its not puppets, but its way way better than reload. It starts really slow, I've only been able to listen once and not loud enough. I would say its pretty good, not quite Black album but good.

Yeah its a 4th track...almost every albums got the downbeat progressive song on the 4th track (fade to black, sanitarium, one, unforgiven, etc.)
Thats good news though, anythings better than st. anger..haha

I'd say it's a bit "unforgiven" a bit "fade to black" and a bit "one". I quite like it. British Steel, you are sooo right about the best intro.

First saw them play in '86 opening up for Ozzy. Last saw them play in '91ish on the "Justice" tour. They went to %!#@ after that. My buddy is in a car club with Hetfield, says he's a cool dude...his music has pretty much sucked for a while though. I used to see ST play at the Santa Monica Auditorium every week in the "good ol days" so I'm anxious to see what Trujillo brings to the table. I think I might hold my breath and wait for Danzig to get back with The Misfits!!!

The way I see it, theyre never gonna top what theyve already made...so they might as well be a different band as far as im concerned. I just like routing for the underdog sometimes...they really were the butt of every joke since the black album. And every other band in the world has already ripped them off and did their own thing. So anything they write for this album isnt gonna be reinventing the wheel. Mastodon and dragonforce put anything recent to shame

I saw them at wembley last year and Robert Trujillo was definetly a good find for the band.

i caught the last 2 minutes on the radio and it was pretty freaking rediculous. You can spot a hammet solo from a mile away. Im determined to hear this on the radio and not on a website, so im pretty sure im destined to hear the middle of and so on all the time. Especially with an 8:00 song.
He does try to sing too much...of course i never heard vocals in that part..ahha

Any thrashing on this one? Or just more half-speed melodic stuff? Metallica were better in the "Whiplash", "Trapped Under Ice" days, when Lars had to take oxygen between songs because they played so fast. I think their last real thrash song was "Damage Incorporated". Their albums since they cut their hair and slowed down are good, but it just doesn't seem like Metallica.
